I cannot believe everyone seems to have missed the band “Fools Garden”. Their super hit “Lemon tree” sounds almost more Beatles than The Beatles themselves… And despite what most people think they are not (or should not be) a one hit wonder. In fact, close to 100 % of the Fools Garden songs are catchy, unlike most bands who puts a lot of nonsense on their albums. Just listen to “Rainy day” and its similarities to “When I’m 64” They have also made at least two Beatles covers; “Martha My Dear ” and “Cry Baby Cry “. Their biggest influences are The Beatles and Oasis. 

Here’s my Beatlesque Song collection. I’ll be listing all of the songs i think are Beatlesque, and the ‘kind’ of Beatlesque they have.

(Note: Reminds me of I Wanna Hold Your Hand)

3. The Monkees – I’m A Believer (Please Please Me Sound)

(Note: The Monkees trying to recreate the young Beatles sound)

4. The Zombies – She’s Not There (Please Please Me Sound)

(Note: Not much to be said, simply gives me Beatlesque vibes)

1. The Byrds – Mr. Tambourine Man (Rubber Soul Sound)

(Note: The Beatlesque sound plastered on a folk Bob Dylan hit.  ART!)

(Note: The Byrds’ next hit)

3. The Monkees – Randy Scouse Git (Rubber Soul Sound)

(Note: This song was written for the Fab Four)

(Note: This song reminds me of “Getting Better “, not to mention Jeff Lynne sounding a lot like John Lennon )

(Note: Another Jeff Lynne work, again with his John Lennon voice)

3. ELO – Mr. Blue Sky (Sgt Pepper Sound)

(Note: A Day In The Life , mixed with Getting Better , with an ounce of Good Morning Good Morning , and again, Jeff Lynne’s voice)

4. ELO – Diary Of Horace Wimp (Sgt Pepper Sound)

(Note: A bit of a sequel to Mr. Blue Sky with Jeff Lynne now sounding BOTH a lot like John & Paul)

5. ELO – Tightrope (White Album Sound)

(Note: Lennon McCartney-esque)

6. ELO – 21st Century Man (Sgt Pepper Sound/Magical Mystery Tour Sound)

(Note: IMO, next to Mr Blue Sky, this is the MOST BEATLESQUE SOUNDING song by ELO)

Like i said before, anything by Jeff Lynne sounds Beatlesque, but i’ll just name the ones that sound the most Beatlesque IMO. He has to be one of the only songwriters who could capture the sound of The Beatles. ELO captured the sound of the White Album while The Idle Race captured the pure sounds of Sgt. Pepper .

Yes, I know the source sounds kinda off. But it really gives the impression of Psychedelic Pop. You could even hear a Sitar around after the chorus. (Is it?) And of course, the vocal harmonies are Beatle crazy.
