Tony was part of the true inner circle, there from near the beginning. Paul and Mike. Ringo. Pete Best. Pete Shotton. Astrid, Klaus and Jurgen. Any others from the beginning still standing? We have had the pleasure of sharing this planet with living Beatles, and with those who helped them be Beatles. And many of us will live long enough to see every last person that had anything to do with them during the golden years pass.
Just think, one day it will be last person known to have witnessed The Beatles perform…
They grow closer and closer to passing out of living memory…
RIP, TB.

A slight derail, but this thought occurred because of thoughts I thunk earlier on this very topic.
Here is the thunk it brought up, isn’t it going to be strange the day Pete Best leaves us? Bound to be one of the headlines of the day, if not the headline depending on the news day, and yet he’ll be being remembered not for what he was, the Beatles drummer, but for what he wasn’t, the Beatles drummer.

Yeah.
That said, it’s kind of odd that he’s gained so much attention for not being in a band for fifty-plus years. I repeat: he’s become semi-famous for not being in a band. How many other musicians can you say that about?

Its not like he’s hidden away from the situation, he’s lived on not being the Beatles drummer for 30 years – at times lifting up his own legacy. “i still don’t know why i was replaced” – well everyone else does so go and do some reading instead of whining and spouting nonsense.

You may not know that Tony contributed to this site last year. He left some comments with information on some autograph sessions The Beatles did around the release of Love Me Do .

I meant to follow it up with an interview request, but never got round to it. Damn.
