Looks like I might have to rejoin
I wrote a piece on this yesterday: http://www.beatlesbible.com/20…..d-studios/
Note that they're just considering whether to mount an appeal. Also, the sale hasn't yet been confirmed by EMI, though it's bound to go ahead in some form. Apparently Abbey Road Studios has been losing money for about 20 years, which makes its future as a studio uncertain.
If the National Trust buys Abbey Road it would likely be converted into a museum, unless they keep part of it open as a separate business. It's an interesting idea but I'm not sure whether that's the best thing. Part of me thinks such a unique studio space should carry on being used (apparently the acoustics in 1 and 2 are second to none), but I'd dearly love it if there was a huge Beatles museum in London.

OfflineI signed it earlier but I'm sure if it helps or not. They would probably prefer UK signatures, or so I would think.
Joe – I was thinking of something along the lines of the National Park Service, but for buildings. Oh well. I'm happy if it stays in British hands rather than some international conglomerate.

Paul is VERY shrewd when it comes to business and above all else he'd not see this as a busniess venture. It's sad in a way that he thinks like that, but he's well known for being like it.
Lloyd Webber, on the other hand, obviously has a different point of view and good on him!

OfflineBefore I thought, "It's sad that they're going to sell it, but The Beatles aren't there any more so it's just a building, right?".
And then I watched that video (and yes it's too short) and fangirled over:
- The stairs
- The area rugs
- The drums
- The microphones
- The analog mixer thing
And concluded it must be saved! How did EMI manage to screw this up?

Looks like we're saved! http://www.reuters.com/article…..inmentNews
So, who's going to chip in for the renovations? mjb, you're right about Paul's business savvy… is this just a losing proposition?
