If any of you have watched the televison latley, you may have noticed the commercial for Kidz Bop 17 along with Kidz Bop Sing the Beatles.

Any comments on this?

A part from wishing I had a cut of the profits? Not much. 😛 I'm all for indoctrinating the younger generation, but what so inaccessable about the originals?

Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

No, but I shudder at the thought.
I've seen the kids murder modern and mainstream songs- what they'll do to masterpieces is sacrilege. Surprised

Ha! I am with you there, Skye. I wouldn't mind having some of the smacker-roonies they are making off the CD's.

And you are so right. The original music isn't inaccessable. I got the entire music collection about a month ago off the internet. Plus, kids will never get the full effect of their music if the Beatles aren't singing!

I know what you mean. The kids practically ruin the songs. I don't understand why Apple allows this.

What's this all about then? We don't have Kidz Bop over here AFAIK, perhaps fortunately.

Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon
Or buy my paperback/ebook! Riding So High – The Beatles and Drugs

Don't miss The Bowie Bible – now live!

You are very fortunate, Joe. It is a CD with pre-teen kids singing Beatles songs that is advertised on the TV a lot, kind of like a cover band, I guess you could say.

It's funny because a children's album is ruining my childhood.

Sadly no. You can always speed it up to Chipmunk speed – same difference.

Haaa! Uhm, no. It's a bit too hard for the little kiddies, don't you think? That would be pretty funny if they did attempt the song. But here is the list of songs they DO sing on the CD.

Can't Buy me Love
A Hard Day's Night
Octopus' Garden

Same here. I wasn't too thrilled when I heard on the T.V. a couple of 10-year old squirts singing Hey Jude . They ruined 12 of the many masterpieces by the Fab 4, sadly. But hey, look at it this way, at least some kids out there that bought the album are getting a taste of the Beatles. Maybe a very small taste, but at least a taste.

As a child (three or four) I remember singing along with Yellow Submarine , although I sang 'lellow' instead of 'yellow'. Obviously I haven't heard the Kidz Bop thing, but I'm all in favour of early indoctrination – it never did me any harm LaughLaughLaugh

3 years difference isn't much…..you are right. But there is a maturity difference, isn't there? Wink

What makes them squirts isn't their age, really–it's the fact that they'd attempt a Beatles cover when they probably don't even know their names.

Of course, the real thing is the best, but for some reason the wee ones (under 6) really relate to this kiddie stuff. I actually treasured my Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits album… sang the hell out of it!

Hehe! I have never heard of this album:Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits. I now know what to get for my cousin's 4th b-day!:) I might as well start her early with Beatles music. Her 1st sentence was, “Mummy! Mummy! Yon(JOHN) and Poll(PAUL) are sesy(SEXY)!” I wonder who she learned that from..hmm.

Ummm, I heard it on a commercial. Yes, it was horrible! They don't sing too well in general, though, so you can't expect them to sing ANY song non-horrible.
