when i'm bored, i like to imagine how it would be, if the beatles were a young "boyband" today, which celeb-girls they would be dating and stuff…

so, i really can see john having an obsessive affair with lady gaga, doing all that "artsy stuff" and annoying the other ones by suggesting a colaberation with her all the time… whereas paul is half-heartedly dating taylor swift (you know, british everybody's-darling meets american sweetheart), and when they finally (after feeding the tabloids for months) break up, both of them write cheesy songs about it (but paul's is better, naturally).

sooo… do you have any suggestions for george and ringo? i'm not really sure about them… or do you have other suggestions for paul and john (or for paul's past-taylor life?) :D

i know, it's not the most sophisticated threat in this forum, but this is the only place to share such silly thoughts… :D so, let's toy around with them!

From what she has said I reckon Katy Perry would be chasing Paul – watch out Taylor :)

I think they would be a great band, but Talyor Swift would probably get in the way. Katy Perry I do not mind.

What is McLennon was real and since it's 2013 and it wouldn't be illegal they just went for it…

I'm sorry, I went there….

"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been..  I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene..  Banjos!  Banjos!  All the time, I can't forget that tune..  and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

LHL, I'm sure you and I along with sky666 would do our best to keep Paul away from John and any celeb girls. He needs some real women.

How could I forget about that factor?  I'd have to become a legit stalker.  Shit would get SO real.

I have horrifying visions of the Beatles recording today and overusing Autotune (by which I mean USING it).

I like black music, disco music. I like the disco music that's out now - John Lennon, 1975

aaaah, i love mclennon (and somehow believe in it)… but to be honest i think they would it keep secret, even today… probably because the fangirls should think the could have a chance… or because some people aren't that tolerant. i don't know, but there comes no band to my mind with officially gay members …

to the autotune-thingy: i heard an interview with paul where he complains, that nobody lets him use autotune. he wants to play around with it and his producers are always like: "NO! you don't need that! leave it alone!" :D
i think finally he was allowed to use it as a soundeffect in "appreciate"…  :D – but yeah, this might be different today…

As was hashed out on another thread recently, due to the fracturing of interest in music and musicians allowed/created by the internet AND the absence of "the perfect storm" circumstances under which Beatlemania came to be, would any of us even hear/ever even heard of the Beatles today?

Real talk here. The way a lot of girls on tumblr and everywhere on the internet go all out "SAAAAASSY GAAAY MEEENNNNN!!!" and "I NEED A GAY BEST FRIEND!!! LMAO XDDDD" Just make me gag. I would take McLennon seriously if it weren't for such a fanbase. a-hard-days-night-paul-3

And I do admit to RPing it with buddies. a-hard-days-night-paul-7

But on another note, I would imagine them being featured on an FOB track. a-hard-days-night-john-1

I think the Beatles For Sale cover would have been the same, the only exception would be the added eyeliner. a-hard-days-night-george-10

Singles remixed into dreadful dance tunes that lose all original context.

HeyTrud, we have to get you in here too on this game of keep-away. I'm on Thanksgiving Break right now so I'll keep Paul entertained. Would you like him next when I have to go back to work on Saturday? LHL and sky999 can draw straws for who gets him next.

I would like to think that, regardless of the decade they're in, they're an extremely creative and talented group of guys, and so wouldn't do anything like that ^  – but who knows? I find it hard to imagine them being here, creating music today, because they just don't fit. But I kind of like that. In fact, I really do.

They would be better than One Direction, and One Direction knows it.

from the article:

Harry Styles has brushed off comparisons between One Direction and The Beatles saying they would be fools to think they're on the same level as the Liverpool legends.

Speaking to Event magazine, Styles agreed that their fan following is similar to Beatlemania but said that on a music level, they don't compare.

"We all sat and watched the film of them [The Beatles] arriving in America. And to be honest, that really was like us. Stepping off the plane, the girls, the madness. It was exactly the same as when we got there – just 50 years earlier.

"But none of us think we're in the same league as them music-wise. We'd be total fools if we did. Fame-wise it's probably even bigger, but we don't stand anywhere near them in terms of music." --end

I was going to give them a tiny tad of respect until I read the first part of the last sentence.

I'm sure from their perspective it feels just as big. But they have no clue.

Sorry 1D but music-wise and fame-wise you aren't even close.

(Ok it was estimated at only 250,000 Australian fans who turned up to see The Beatles but i cant find a photo of that and whats 50,000 between friends.)

haha – famewise??? my parents don't even know who or what is "one direction" :D anyway… i don't think the wouldn't fit in todays music-world. they would definitely dress up different, though. but the "four different types of guys so every girl finds one she likes"-thing would definitely work today. and i think also some of the music… they have a lot of tunes that are just timeless catchy. and the "grazy shit" things like Magical Mystery Tour would probably even sell better today than when they were made (although somebody would have to get naked to make it a real bestseller, i vote for paul. a-hard-days-night-george-10

The trouble with this idea is that you need the Beatles in the '60's to get music to where it is today, so if we were to remove them from that period then this period wouldn't exist to put them into unless we create a whole cross over dimension where we copy the 60's Beatles and insert them into now but different.

Really we need to get a time machine, go back, clone the four Beatles, Brian, George Martin, Derek Taylor, Neil, Mal & Freda, then travel back to now and let them loose – but with some dodgy disguises and name changes so no-one knows who they are.

Well, I personally wouldn't recognize 1D if they were actually photographed crossing Abbey Road (indeed they did, and I didn't!) And yeah, lots of other people wouldn't recognize them either. But the sheer fact that there are thousands of media outlets worldwide compared to the Beatles' day could be what they mean. The idea that a fan can capture a video of one of the 1D guys buying an ice cream with her iPhone, and within minutes that video can be uploaded and available to the entire world – there's no way the Beatles could ever have competed with that kind of penetration. So they're not necessarily wrong, if you look at it that way.
