I was born a year before John was murdered so I never saw them, but a lifelong friend of mine's mother saw them in Boston at the Boston Garden in 1964 and Suffolk Downs Racetrack (also in Boston) in 1966. She said it was great!

I'm impressed by you guys who went to those concerts! - regardless of what you could or couldn't hear.

I had just turned 10 when the Beatles arrived in America (and 16 when they broke up!), and like the younger people on this Forum, I was bitten by the Beatle bug the moment I first heard them. But going to a rock concert of any kind was out of the question...

Ah yes, "The Totenham Sound!!"

I think "Glad All Over" is awright. "Bits And Pieces" is their best song.

It was hyped as Liverpool v Manchester or something - the 'New Sound'.

Were the Dave Clark Five in Catch Me If You Can in 1965? I cant think of any other song they had apart from Glad All Over which is incredibly irritating.

(No idea why its displaying in italics as it isnt set that way)

Dave Clark 5 were thought to be next big thing and the Beatles on the slide when Glad All Over came out and replaced She Loves You(?) at #1 (completely different song to the Glad All Over The Beatles covered and on Live At The BBC)

Yeah, I've read that before and always found it absurd. SOMETHING had to replace "She Loves You" at the top eventually; it could've been "The Singing Nun: Next Big Thing!" Music papers trying to make up a story out of nothing. (Almost as big a non-issue as 'Penny Lane'/'SFF' doesn't make #1, peaks at #2 ...
