For the record, I’m actually pro-Yoko, but I definitely get why people blame her for the breakup.
Could It be because they always need a scapegoat?

He wrote several songs for or about Yoko, but he wrote nothing for or about Cynthia, unless you count "Good Night" for Julian.
Without Cynthia, He Doesn't write Nowhere Man, Good Morning Good Morning, Run For Your Life and Girl, just to name a few

It just sounded slutty in comparision to everyone else’s noble thoughts of going back in time to save John or get rid of Yoko.
Hey. Getting rid of Yoko is not noble.
*the 9 proves my point*
I think all she means is that it's a widely held (which doesn't mean it's right) opinion that without Yoko, the Beatles would still have been together for much longer and with less angst, and so noble here in this case means "for the greater good" in terms of lengthening or preserving the Beatles storyline. Whereas going back in time for the express purpose of getting a Beatle alone with you wouldn't exactly be called a *selfless* act by any means.

Yeah, but doesn't that go all out the window with "Norwegian Wood"?

OfflineWait. "Girl" and "Run For Your Life" are for Cynthia?
Also, "Nowhere Man" and "Good Morning Good Morning" weren't really about/for Cynthia. They were a pessimistic self portrait and a song that took its title from an ad for cornflakes, and John could have gotten his domestic experience from any other marriage.

OfflineThose sound more like individual interpretations. (Well, maybe not the "Run For Your Life" one. That sounds pretty accurate.) Anyway, "Girl" and "Run For Your Life" are two songs I, for one, could definitely do without.

John said the following about Girl: It wasn't just a song, and it was about that girl – that turned out to be Yoko, in the end – the one that a lot of us were looking for. Also, don't forget my new and Improved Run For Your Life!

To go slightly off-topic, I don’t get why a lot of people aren’t big fans of “Run for your life.” I love that song! Woot, Team RFYL!
The Lyrics are a little to graphic for our tastes

OfflineI think Yoko could have saved him from Cynthia, another (hypothetical) dead-end marriage, or any other situation.

My dislike of that song boils down to the lyrics. If you substitute Zig's version of the lyrics (see the "Run For Your Life" thread), it's really fun to sing along to.

Girl- A tale telling an unnamed (Cynthia) party to save him.
Am I the only one who thinks that interpretation's not quite it? To say the least?
PS -- Thanks for the apple, Mrs. M. It'll go nicely with my lunch.

1. No. No you're not.
2. You're welcome. What are you having for lunch?

OfflineWe're seriously derailing this thread! Ah, what else is new around here?
1) I always got the sense that the song was about a relationship that was in some ways not fulfilling him anymore, but while she's nasty to his friends and cuts him down, he still loves her, or at least is too comfortable being with someone than to be alone, or recognizes she is manipulating him but what can he do? He knows it's not a perfect relationship, but maybe he's come to expect that relationships are *never* perfect.
2) It was this leftover spinach/pesto/tomato pizza from last night. Some combination of that. I threw away the box already, so am not too sure of all the ingredients. Definitely pesto and tomato.
