Thanks cbatcu! It’s nice to tell the story to people who appreciate how I felt. Even now I can’t believe he spoke to me and wish I could travel back in time to relive it all over again. And I really cannot stress enough how gorgeous he looked! Even my friend who was with me, was 18 years old at the time and is not a Beatles fan said he looked cute in the flesh!

Really cool story – thanks for sharing *wave*

Oh Hannah, you’re so lucky! I can’t believe you didn’t ask for an autograph though. Would that have caused problems at work?

I keep thinking about about this part of what you said. Total eye candy! Lucky you!

Just speculating, but I would imagine given the circumstances under which Paul was there, he was more likely to greet them cheerfully because they didn’t approach him. Also there is a general unspoken rule that if you’re working, you shouldn’t approach celebrities unless that’s part of your job… and never ever ask for a photo or autograph while doing so.

Yeah, that’s the unspoken rule where I work (we quite often have famous people visiting). However, by day three of Hannah seeing him and saying hello, I’d assume he’d not have minded signing an autograph too much.

Obviously it’d be unprofessional for a lawyer to break off mid-meeting and say “Hey, do you mind if we get a photo together?”

Btw, in Lewisohn’s Complete Recording Sessions book he says it was common for session musicians to get The Beatles’ autographs after they’d finished recording.

Yeah, we’re told not to hassle celebs if we see them (which is rarely) but I don’t think I would have had the guts to anyway. I would have ended up saying something stupid and embarrassing myself in front of my idol!  I have a friend who actually, wait for it……. went out for dinner with Paul! I won’t go into too much detail but her uncle wrote an extremely famous song and a group of them went to a restaurant with Stella McCartney, among others. She was nervous enough about that, when Stella announced “dad’s on his way” and there he was! My friend is extremely shy and she said Paul was talking to her, asking about her job and stuff and she could barely speak! I could not believe it when she told me. I don’t think I could have handled that!

We’d never forgive ourselves! Now I really want to take Paul out for dinner. Hmmmm, maybe if I call my friend and ask her uncle to set something up…. I’ll tell Paul you said hi Emily!

Wow, Hannah!  Great story.  Three “good mornings” from Paul would make my life complete!!  ahdn_paul_02 *sigh* heart

Unbelievable about your friend having dinner with him!!!  WOW!  a-hard-days-night-paul-7  I would most definitely risk making an idiot out of myself if the opportunity EVER arose! paul-mccartney  That would be AMAZING.  He is always so awesome, taking the time to say “good morning”….making small talk with someone shy at dinner….love that man!  heart  Gush, gush!

How on earth could anyone eat anywhere near Paul McCartney ? Seriously. Either that or I would be a bag of nerves, probably order something I hated just to impress him, force it down, then spew my guts out. Still maybe it would end in inspiring Paul to write a song.

^^ There’s a question. “How many times have you witnessed a fan spewing the moment they met you?”

good one!

If I were to meet him, I would probably act normal and be very coherent. THEN, I would drive myself insane asking myself “why did you say that that way?” “why didn’t you tell him…” “I wonder if he thinks I’m a nut?” “I wonder if I had anything stuck in my teeth?” We know what a stickler he is about clean teeth. Oh well. Perhaps I could end up in a sanitorium next to the one Funny Paper created for ex-Beatles in the song title game thread.

I was in an elevator with Pete Best once at a fest for beatle fans convention 10 years ago. Granted he was handsome but not very nice or frendly. He wanted money or a drink for an autograph.he was so frosty I asked him what he thought of Ringo. His reply was,” he’s ok”. I can see why John was quoted as saying once,” Pete was a good drummer but Ringo was a better Beatle”. He certainly left a lot to be desired.
