OfflinePaul did want to put it out on Anthology 2 but George would have none of it and refused its inclusion. It will come out one day but Olivia may keep with George's wishes and insist on it being in the vaults. Paul, Ringo, Olivia and Yoko all have to consent, or have no objections, to a release before anything can begin to happen.

OfflineI don't understand why George objected, maybe to show Yoko how he felt about avant garde a clue music. I think Anthology was a much better platform than Paul just releasing it because chances are it's going to be real bad and on Anthology at least it could have sort of blended in to the background, much like What's the New Mary Jane does. I don't think Paul is in a very good position here because he would have to announce its release in some way, but how do you announce whatever the hell Carnival of Light is supposed to be? Maybe he should just leak it on to the Internet where it will get picked up by hardcore fans but not heard by the masses, which would probably be best for both parties.

OfflineConsidering Paul has often stated how he was playing around with sound collages, tape loops and all that avant garde stuff before John, who is most associated with it, its more likely he would want people to know Carnival of Light as it was his initial idea really. And its not like Paul to leak anything Beatley.
The other question is would Yoko want it released if it showed Paul to be ahead of John in that department? There is still a little ongoing battle between Yoko and Paul.
Maybe they could do a Carnival of Light/Mary Jane (remix) single – the freaky Beatles.

Paul simply cant. For any Beatles material he has to get clearance and agreement from Olivia, Ringo and Yoko. If any 1 of them refuse then nothing happens. Same goes if the others want to use any beatles material.
Paul kind of made his own bed at the time of suing the others to break up the beatles partnership when he rightly insisted that the agreement was always if there wasnt a complete consensus then it didnt happen. A key part of Pauls victory. Cant turn around 40 years later and say anything to the contary.

Offline"Carnival of Light" will see the light of day at some point, it's only a question of when. However,
,
, and Olivia Harrison will make sure that day is years and years away. It will be a disappointment when we get to hear it, but, hey, it's still a piece of Beatles history, so who cares? Happy waiting!

OfflinePaul can release it as a solo single or a track of a solo avant-garde album (though I'm not sure if he'd ever want to do something like this).
(The obsticle to release it as a Beatles song is of caurse Olivia, cause I'm certain Yoko would think it's the best song Paul's ever made and Ringo as a Beatle always does what he's told to.)

What do you think Olivia would have against it?

OfflineOlivia would be against it in keeping with George's own reservations.
If Paul did release it as a Paul solo recording then i'd imagine he would be open to legal action as it is a beatle recording recorded in 1967 under whatever legal contracts and gentlemens agreements that currently operates. Otherwise Yoko could issue albums of unreleased John beatle era songs under the name of John Lennon.

OfflineRight fellow Biblers (or whatever the collective term for us here is) another Carnival of Light video has popped up, this time, so far, with a few more yays than nays on its probable authenticity tho that might very well change depending on what more folks say when they hear it. I havent heard it yet.
You may want to prepare yourself for whatever it is youre going to hear if you do listen to it.
And i make no promise or suggestion its the real thing, just posting what i read elsewhere. It could very well be a fake and you very well may lose 14 minutes of your life listening to it and 48 years recovering.

OfflineI have no idea as i havent looked it into it. I listened to it once and it gave me a headache. Im not going back to it again. It wouldnt surprise if it was another fake.

OnlineThat's…not terrible, has its interesting moments. Kinda krautrock-y, like early Tangerine Dream or Amon Düül circa 1969. Or Pink Floyd from the same era. I think it sounds like something the Beatles were entirely capable of. And listen to that brief spoken bit at 12:25: That sounds a LOT like John's voice to me! I wish I had a wav file of this so I could listen to all the speeded-up voices slowed down to regular speed, to listen for Scouse-sounding accents.
But unfortunately, starting about the eleven-minute mark, there are several bursts of electronic noise that appear to be the result of a synthesizer with (I think) a sample-and-hold function, or a computerized simulation. And synths weren't available to the Beatles (or practically anybody) in January '67, so I guess this would indeed be another fake, unless they had some other means of producing those sounds, that I'm not aware of. Still, though, of the three "Carnival of Light" fakes I've heard, this one sounds the most convincing – to my ears, anyways.

OfflineWow, that ''thing'' sure is creepy. I don't know anything about synthesizers but I've read that the organ doesn't really have a melody, and in this video the organ does have a kind of melody that's repeated over and over, doesn't it?

I have a feeling it's already been heard several times without anyone realising. I bet McCartney's not averse to playing it before shows, at art exhibitions etc. He's spoken in the past of wanting to do so.
So, if anyone is going to see Paul at some kind of show, you know what to do!
