My Top 3 Album Covers are

3. Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band

2. Yesterday and Today “Butcher Cover” (I’m So Politically Incorrect)a-hard-days-night-paul-11

1. Revolver (Love the artwork as much as the Album itself)

Worst Album Covers

3. Beatles VI (Too Simple)

2. Rock And Roll Music Vol 1. and 2. (They Just don’t have much to offer.)(While The original looked Ok I Guess. I Still Thought it looked interesting.)(Even if Capitol was just trying to cash in on The 50’s Nostalgia and The Beatles Nostalgia of the Late Seventies)

1. Yesterday and Today Trunk (Boring as Hell)a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.

I liked the ‘Reel Music’ cover when i was young as it had so many Beatles to see. Strangely i never liked the track layout, didnt see to work for me.

The White Album cover intrigued me at the time. When I bought the record I think I asked for the new double album by the Beatles because it didn’t really seem to have a name.

I think it became known as the White Album later on but I couldn’t put a date on exactly when.

It did have four good quality photographs with it, though, and I still remember being reluctant to stick drawing pins in them when I put them on my bedroom wall.

Favourite: Revolver , by a long shot. I have the LP-sized version on my wall, and I could stare at it for hours on end. It’s so intricate you could get lost in it, and just a dam’ fine drawing besides. Klaus Voormann was right when he said it was his greatest achievement. beatlemaniacs_02_gif

I also fancy the A Hard Day’s Night cover– it’s clever, iconic, and their funny faces always make me smile. a-hard-days-night-john-1 Beatles For Sale is the best just-plain-photo album cover I’ve seen– there’s something about the composition of the image that just screams FABOSITY. paul-mccartney

Least favourites: Magical Mystery Tour is rather awful. Horrible colours, and John looks terrible. a-hard-days-night-john-2 I don’t like Let It Be either– Paul’s beard makes me sick. a-hard-days-night-paul-3

Sgt. Peppers’s Lonely Hearts Club is probably my favourite.

I never liked the cover of With The Beatles for some reason.

The butcher cover intrigues me, the Yesterday and Today trunk cover is so boring compared to the butcher cover.

I’ve always liked the ‘Beatles Ballads’ cover since I got it on cassette and later vinyl back in the day. Only now realised Yoko is on the cover tho.

Hm, my favourite cover is Sgt Pepper ‘s I think. Not only because it’s so famous and influential, I simply love the many colours and the Pepper moustaches and that there are so many little details to discover. The latter also counts for Revolver which is the reason for it being my second favourite cover!

My least favourite covers are Let It Be (I don’t like their looks and the separation apparent in the black lines between their portraits. The colours are rather depressing as well.) and, worst of all, the butcher cover of Yesterday And Today. Yeah, I know I’m a pacifist without any sense of humour, but it’s too brutal for me.

All in all, I love almost all the Beatles covers though. Beatles For Sale has so truly nice shades of yellow on it and I also love the White Album cover, it’s a stroke of genius after Sgt Pepper ‘s and MMT in my opinion.

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

I like that Ballads painting, reminds me of Henri Rousseau. Apparently that was a possible cover for the White Album .

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

That would have been an alright alternative for the White Album cover and I like that Yoko is there as well.

My favourite album covers are probably Revolver , Abbey Road , With The Beatles , and Rubber Soul .

I don’t really have a least favourite but despite having a lot of colour I do think the Magical Mystery Tour cover looks a bit lame and I am also not a fan of the Yellow Submarine cover either. I do like the animation in the film but the cover isn’t great in my opinion.

I really like the Anthology covers and of course Sgt Pepper was good for it’s time.

As far as album covers go, i really like Revolver and Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band because they really stick out.

As for The Beatles Ballads, reminds me too much of Where The Wild Things Are.

My least favorite cover has to be Past Masters , it’s so bland.

Favourite covers:

Rubber Soul (I like the distortion effect and lettering, plus the Beatles look shady and cool stuart-sutcliffe)

Abbey Road (too iconic for words a-hard-days-night-john-1)

Anthology 1 – 3 (great collage by Klaus)

Least favourite covers:

Beatles For Sale (Not only a title that lacks any form of excitement, but they all look very miserable in the picture)

Ringo The 4th (A little creepy for me a-hard-days-night-ringo-12)

Driving Rain (I find this one creepy too a-hard-days-night-paul-3)

I love the Double Fantasy cover. I wish Yoko had used something else for Milk And Honey however.

I honestly love the cover/title combo on Beatles For Sale

Somewhere In England is pretty weird, I’m not a fan.

I also agree with SgtPeppersBulldog that Driving Rain ‘s cover kind of sucks. I think Brian Ray took the photo with a camera from a watch.

Abbey Road tops my list.

Also, anyone else notice how Stones’ Some Girls look a bit like AHDN ?

I find both works by Klaus Voorman (Revolver and Anthologies) to be my favorites.

Another neat one to me include the Yellow Submarine cover, for the notes on the back, drawing parallels between the movie and the legend of Beowulf.

My least favorite would be the Let it Be cover, due to it replacing the Get Back cover. Whatever happened to that? The setting started the covers, it’s how it should have ended.

I personally think the Milk And Honey cover should have been used for Double Fantasy . I find that picture very cute and heartwarming than the dramatic black and white one.

I think their best is Sgt Pepper . Abbey Road is the most iconic certainly. I think Let It Be or Beatles For Sale is the worst (and the worst album title).

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I just remembered that two of my favorite albums ever also have two of my favorite covers. Ram and All Things Must Pass

McCartney’s cover I don’t get. Its a cool picture of a bowl of cherries that is symbolic, but I don’t think it makes that great of an album cover.

The best cover has to be the one for their self titled album. It’s so simple, yet beautiful.
