OfflineAw, thanks guys! Yes, I can truly die complete. But I would have anyways. I'm always very fortunate in life. Always. I'm very thankful. And yes, I'll take a picture of both of them as soon as I can, but right now I'm getting ready for Strawberry Fields!!!!! Love you George. Are any of you going (in NY)?

I'll get to it, sorry. But I remember a long time ago, when I didn't listen to all of The Beatles albums. But I played all that my dad had A LOT OF TIMES. So we were about to go on a vacation, and I took A Hard Day's Night with me, which I strangely didn't notice before (I'm not that observant). I remember when I first heard it… WOW!!! I was blown away. I was listening to Magical Mystery Tour a lot before, so this was so different. We drove for 12 hours to go to a different part of the place once we got there, and I played A Hards Day's Night in the car for 12 hours. Just that one. Replay replay replay… it was awesome.

OfflineI just saw one of the bitchiest, sluttiest, most empty-headed girls in my whole school wearing a Beatles tshirt. I promptly tripped down the stairs in shock. maybe good musical taste is her one redeeming trait?

OfflineThis is more like an anti-Beatley Moment…
While in a store over the weekend, I heard "Blackbird" being sung over the PA by a lady who was singing it as a "lounge singer" would. It was really bizarre hearing it sung that way. I've never heard the lyrics "take these broken wings and learn to fly" or "take these sunken eyes and learn to see" sung so cheerfully. It reminded me of Bill Murray's lounge singer version of "Star Wars".

OfflineUnexpected Beatley moment Sunday:
As I was listening to Live 88.5 (local alternative station, which I grudgingly agree is the best local station), the DJ played Rock Lobster by the B-52's. Now, I hear this song on that show every week, so nothing new. But, the DJ, after the song, relayed the story about Lennon hearing the song at a bar, calling Yoko and saying, "They're ready for you!" and subsequently recording Double Fantasy. Now, my brother and mother never knew that, and knowing me, they asked me quite shocked why Lennon liked Rock Lobster (my brother mostly because he gets sick of the song halfway through), and was shocked that Lennon would be inspired by it, until I mentioned Yoko's work in the early years wasn't any different.
Isn't it just some of the vocals that sound a little bit like Yoko's? IIRC there's a bit of singing towards the end which is like her primal giggle. It might be in an extended mix of Rock Lobster; I don't know the song that well. Certainly the rest of her song doesn't sound much like her, IMO.

OfflineJoe, the Yoko resemblance comes through more in the backing vocals then anything. The caterwauling can sound eerily similar to Yoko at times. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

OfflineI'd never heard that story either. Idk, I can sort of hear the resemblance in the backing vocals, but only now you've mentioned it. I don't think I've heard anything particularly Yoko-y about the song before.

OfflineI was driving to Massachusetts earlier this week, when suddenly I remember there is a feature on the local oldies station called "Fab Four at 4". I'm not usually in the car at that time to hear it, but they basically just play four Beatles related songs at 4 o'clock. Brilliant, eh?
Anyway, the thing that made this one special was the fact that it was the first time I ever heard "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)" on the radio.
There I was, flying down I-95 at 90 MPH singing like Dennis O'Bell, Granny Voice and Harumph Man.
Fabulous…

OfflineI was roaming around in the National Cathedral gift shop (I go to the cathedral school, and occasionally wander around in the cathedral during lunchtime) when I came upon a book entitled "The Gospel According to the Beatles" which is about spiritual themes in their music and lives. I bought it, and it's really interesting, and seems to be factual—written by a former Rolling Stone reporter. And by "former" I mean he worked there in the magazine's golden era.
Apparently the same company also made "The Gospel According to Star Wars" and "The Gospel According to Peanuts", among other things.

OfflineWatching vids in youtube and normally before they start you get annoying adverts for gillette and some film you never want to see so you block them out. So it was a surprise to hear a bit of With A Little Help From My Friends at the beginning (before you are able to mute the sound). Turns out it was an advert for Ringos new dvd. ![]()

OfflineOnce, when I was coming back home there was a very strong wind and the sand from the ground was getting into everybody's eyes. And suddenly when I was closing my eyes to protect them from this sand, on my mp3 player I heard The Beatles singing a part of "All My Loving" song "Close your eyes…".
It was something magical to me…

OfflineI hate the Beatley moments when you see people at school with a Beatles shirt on and you say, "What's your favourite song?" and they say something like Hey Jude or Here Comes the Sun. Plenty of people like that are at my school…
I don't try to get them to like the underrated but good songs because they have already insulted me.

OfflineI've got a good one! My family went camping in Florida last summer(it was incredibly hot) and I was listening to the Best Of 66-70 and I heard Across the Universe for the first time in like 6 years. I was in the tent with my mother, father, and best friend; they were all asleep, but I listened to Across the Universe literally 13 times in a row until I fell asleep. That was a great vacation because I had my boys with me ![]()
