OfflineAlright, so, 'fess up. Who's got Beatle-y ringtones on their phones, what are they, and what kind of cool stories do you have about broadcasting these ringtones in public?
I make my own ringtones using Audacity, so I have some rather unique ones.
Currently in my "playlist":
1) The intro to "Here Comes the Sun"
2) The orchestral swell-up from "A Day in the Life"
3) The first verse of "You Won't See Me" ("when I call you up, your liiiiiiiine's engaged …")
4) The second verse of "No Reply" ("I tried to telephone, they said you were not home …")
5) John singing "Check it and see, one more time for me" from "Mr. Postman" (I use this for incoming txt messages)
6) The slide-up chord from "Blackbird" (another one I use for incoming txts)
7) Ringo's "I thought she was a sandwich" bit from Help! (this is a Ringo-tone, of course!)
I'm always on the lookout for good ideas, though, so if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. If you send me a PM with your email address and a request, I'd be happy to email any of the above ringtones that I have (they're in mp3 format).
What about the first verse of All I've Got To Do?
"Whenever I want you around
All I've got to do
Is call you on the phone, and you'll come running home
Yeah that's all I've got to do"
I've never had a Beatles ringtone, though I have a general aversion to mobile phones – I try and use mine as little as possible, and most days it never even leaves my bag. It's funny, I'm quite happy tinkering with a server and coding websites, but give me a new mobile phone and I haven't a clue how to do even basic stuff with it. It's some weird kind of tech deficiency I have.
Ah tell a lie – I *have* had a Beatles ringtone. My very first phone had a music programming tool with a treble staff, so I keyed in a very tinny version of the I Feel Fine riff. Forgot about that one. I've never used an actual Beatles recording though – wouldn't know how to.

Nice. I'll have to mock that one up and see if it's short enough.
I forgot, but I actually have two more: one is a vocal-only track (I stripped out the instruments) of John singing "Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes." Then I also have just the intro to "Lucy in the Sky", which is really nice because it loops around neatly when the ringtone runs out. Sometimes I don't even want to answer the phone, I just want to hear that lick over and over again.
I hear you, Joe, about the phone thing. I still only have a basic phone without a data plan or a web browser or synchronized email or any of that. Juicing it up with Beatles ringtones just makes it easier to carry it around all day. (I used to have one of those build-your-own-ringtone tools on an old phone as well, but for some reason I used mine to program in Bach's Brandenberg Concerto No. 2 – go figure.)

No funny stories…
Across the Universe (the actual song, not a tone) is my default ring.
All Together Now (again, the actual song) means one of my kids is calling. (My son's ring used to be Help! because he only calls me when he needs something.)
Good point – the "tones" I'm using are actual clips from the albums, not midi equivalents or anything like that.

OfflineThat's what I thought. Which is why I've stuck to intrumental parts, except I did do the chorus of Don't Pass Me By for my brother – it's his favorite Beatles song. So I've got the piano part of In My Life for myself and Eleanor Rigby strings for my mom.
I have a few tones. But, boy, do they gain a lot of attention!
Yellow Submarine.
Twist and Shout.(My mum's! Her fav:)
Girl.
Birthday.
All You Need is Love.(My boyfriend's:)
Here Comes the Sun.
Help!(My bestie's. She always wants help on homework..)
Revolution 2.
Yellow Submarine is my current ringtone at the moment. And as I have said on the site before, I bluetooth it to many people when I go out and public. Twist and Shout WAS my ringtone. I was forced to remove it as my ringtone, though. It gained TOO MUCH attention. I couldn't go out in public without my phone going off and like 10 people asking me if I could bluetooth it to them. It began to get very tiring, so I had to remove it. One time I was at the mall in a store, and this lady started dancing! Hilarious sight!

OfflineI connect my phone to the computer and download the mp4 files straight on to it.
I constantly change my ring tones. I occasionally edit songs with audio editing software but most of the time I don't.
At the moment I have I Am The Walrus as my ring tone and Hey Bulldog as my message tone. Hey Bulldog is a great one to have but I Am The Walrus is a bit quiet and it doesn't play for long enough.
I used to have Helter Skelter as my ring tone. I heard the song once when I was waiting for my mum after school and I was just humming along to it until it stopped and I realised it was phone ringing. Momentary lapse of clear thinking. All I was thinking was "Hey, that's the same song as my ring tone."
My ring tones never get much attention. There's less of a Beatles following in Australia. Some people are snobbish and pretend they don't like old music but when it plays they love it. At my Year 12 formal for leaving school (our version of the prom) we could request songs and I made sure the last song was Twist and Shout – people were surprised but everyone got up and danced!

We had a school-dance just recently a few weeks ago. My boyfriend requested Twist and Shout for me.
…what a doll, eh?:) After he requested it, later on it was requested 2 more times. Well quite surprisingly, everyone was talking the next day at school about how that was the most funnest song at the dance. It felt like a 60's club at my school……
It was great!

(our song!) The scream got me a bit of attention at high mass when I neglected to silence my phone!
