Another Grammy Museum event. I'd posted about the first mono listening party, but it got lost during one of the purges.

Back by popular demand! The Record Theater: The Beatles' Second Album (Capitol 2080) in Mono. Imagine a theater. As Chuck Berry would say "the place is packed." Lights go out. An album cover is on the screen. Suddenly, a vinyl record is being played.

From the first song on side one, to the last song on side two. No phones. No computers. No interruptions.

To continue The GRAMMY Museum's celebration of The Beatles' 50th Anniversary in America during the year 2014, join us as we welcome you to the Clive Davis Theater to experience the legendary Beatles' Second Album in mono, as originally released on vinyl in 1964. After the record ends, former President of Apple Records, Jack Oliver and co-author of Recording the Beatles Brian Kehew, will join Etzioni on stage for a discussion.

Q: Which artist was the first to replace itself at number one on the US album charts?
A: The Beatles with The Beatles' Second Album, which went to number one, knocking off Meet the Beatles!

Here's another clue for you all:
The last song on The Beatles' Second Album ends with "YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!"

Screaming girls will not be admitted without a parent or guardian.

Members get 2 for 1 tickets, and they are $10 each.

Ringo has announced more concerts in the Midwest and South, starting in October, according to USA Today. Also, there are announcements of a few other events:

On June 19, a collection of Starr's self-portraits will be unveiled at a VIP reception and exhibition at the Soho Contemporary Art Gallery in New York. Starr's art also is on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago and Ocean Gallery in Stone Harbor , N.J., as well as online at RingoStarrArt.com.ssonette.

On July 7, Starr will celebrate his 74th birthday in Los Angeles. As in past years, he encourages fans around the world to pause at noon local time to share a "peace and love" moment. He's inviting L.A. fans to gather with him at noon PT in front of theCapitol Records building.

Ringo Starr: A Lifetime of Peace and Love, a tribute concert honoring the drummer, will premiere at 8 p.m. ET July 13 on AXS TV. The special showcases performances by Joe Walsh, Ben Harper, Ben Folds, Brendan Benson, Bettye LaVette and others, plus a band featuring Don Was, Benmont Tench, Peter Frampton, Steve Lukather and Kenny Aronoff. The concert, taped in January in Los Angeles, launched theRingo Starr Peace & Love Fund , a division of the David Lynch Foundation, which provides Transcendental Meditation instruction to tens of thousands of at-risk students in underserved schools, women who are survivors of domestic violence, and veterans with post-traumatic stress.

^Ah, that's too bad! But at least they've just been rescheduled, although I can see that being an issue with so many people having tickets and planning travel, etc.

AGGGGHHHHH! Thanks for the info, but.. Agh. Our show was on a Saturday over my Summer vacation; the new date is a Wednesday when I will have school the next day, and the city it's in is a few hours away from where I am.

EDIT: Wow, this looks extremely selfish now, and I guess it was. It is certainly more important than my own worries that Paul Get(s) Back to full health before he tours again.

If you're lonely (or not!), you can talk to me. .....Hey! Are you a new member on this fine forum and don't know where to go to introduce yourself? Well, you can do it here! Dig it?

Love how Binny tells them its her first time in London and John's reply of "great" is drenched in not giving two hoots. He did that in a lot of interviews when folk informed him of such things.a-hard-days-night-john-6

Wogblog reports that an expanded edition of John and Yoko's August 1972 One To One Concerts will be coming out soon using material from both shows - the 1986 album featured tracks from the afternoon show only whilst the '98 Lennon Anthology included three tracks from the evening performance.

Hopefully there will be a collectors edition that includes both concerts in full along with some of the rehearsals - there is a cracking performance of Working Class Hero that surfaced a year or so back on a radio station (see this thread).

From Reuters:

The U.S. Congress is working to update laws on who gets paid for recorded music, in a possible omnibus bill, as old CDs pile up at yard sales and music lovers increasingly shift to streaming services such as Pandora and Spotify.

One bill, the RESPECT Act, would close a loophole that allows digital music services, like SiriusXM, to stream music recorded before 1972 without paying for them. These include legends such as The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and other Motown artists.

More at the link.

Juber, known to his fans simply as "LJ," has released 22 solo albums during his five-decade career. The latest, Under an Indigo Sky (Solid Air Records) is a jazz/blues-tinged solo guitar recording that was mixed at Hollywood's legendary Capitol Studios by top engineer Al Schmitt. Juber's LJ Plays The Beatles album was voted one of Acoustic Guitar Magazine's all-time Top Ten albums. His solo arrangement of "The Pink Panther Theme" was featured on the Best Pop Instrumental GRAMMY-winning album Henry Mancini: Pink Guitar. His performance of "Stand By Me" was heard nationally in a Diamonds Are Forever commercial. As a studio musician, he can be heard on recordings from artists as diverse as Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks, Paul Williams, Seal and Barry Manilow, and he is featured on the soundtracks to hundreds of TV shows such as Home Improvement and movies including the Academy Award-winning Dirty Dancing, Good Will Hunting and Pocahontas. Juber's latest endeavor, Guitar With Wings, is a lavishly produced book co-written by music historian Marshall Terrill and featuring a foreword by Denny Laine, that tells the story of Juber's career told through his own words. Through candid, never-seen-before color and black & white photos, vintage advertising materials, guitars, equipment, memorabilia and the six-string legend's encyclopedic musical memory, Juber takes readers on a unique, rock-n-roll journey. Please join us as we welcome Juber to the Clive Davis Theater for return of our popular Great Guitar series.
