From The Examiner:

* Brian's diaries will be featured in a new exhibit on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, opening May 31.

* Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead played with Sean during an encore of a show in San Francisco. But also, Sean's tour bus was burglarized, and the percussionist's latop stolen, and he posted to Instagram pleading for its return.

* Interview with Christine Van Loo, an aerielist on Paul's 2004 summer tour at Macca Report.

Ultimate Classic Rock article on an interview with Mike Myers in GQ in which he mentions that George wrote his last letter to him.

On Nov. 29, 2001, George Harrison died at the age of 58 after a long struggle with cancer. In a new interview, actor Mike Myers reveals that, earlier that day, he received a piece of fan mail from Harrison, which he says was the last letter the former Beatle ever wrote.

As Myers recounts to GQ, he was on the set of ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember,’ shooting a scene where many Hollywood stars are making a film about Powers’ life the day Harrison’s letter unexpectedly arrived. Myers had never before met or corresponded with Harrison, so he was thrilled to discover that one of his idols was a fan. He says that receiving it was “mind-blowing, dude. For the son of a Liverpudlian, a person who worships the Beatles.”

Myers shared some of the contents of the letter, which he says is “prominently displayed” in his’ home. “He says, ‘…sitting here with my Dr. Evil doll…I just wanted to let you know I’ve been looking all over Europe for a mini-you doll.’ And he says, ‘Dr. Evil says frickin,’ but any good Scouser dad will tell you it’s actually ‘friggin’ as in a ‘four of fish and finger pie‘, if you get my drift.’ He said, “Thanks for the movies, so much fun.”

The ‘Austin Powers’ and ‘Wayne’s World’ star once spoke of how much the last scene in ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ — where photographs of the group fall from a helicopter carrying the Beatles — means to him. Harrison referenced it in the letter by saying, “I’m sorry I left you on the helicopter that day, I promise I won’t do it again.”

Myers says he has since learned the backstory of Harrison’s letter, but would prefer to keep it to himself. “I can’t really speak of it,” he continued. “But it is fantastic and sad and awesome, and this is the magic that I’m talking about that I feel very grateful and privileged to be part of it.”

So now we know: the girl in the blue dress was no mistake and no passer-by, she was added to the photo during retouching!

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8According to the photographer, Iain Macmillan, she wasn't. In the comments section of that same article there is a quote from wiki's entry on Iain which reads

"After the shoot Iain went to find a road sign for use on the back cover. It was taken on the corner with Alexandra Road. During photographing the sign a girl in a blue dress walked through the shot. Iain was angry but later it was chosen as the back cover. The wall with the sign was demolished several years later."

Good catch.

You probably won't see this response until much later, as it seems to be my turn to be on the dreaded moderated status. Edit: So, of course, that one went through just fine, lol.

That damn moderation thing is spreading, who knows why its picking up posts with nothing in them of any concern. Maybe it needs something to do.

Wogblog has additional information on the reported retouching of the album back cover (see the posts above – starting at 1608) with the blue dressed lady walking by along with a picture of the cover at an earlier stage of its design with the unknown lady in it.

Out of interest has the lady ever made herself known? Surely she realised it was her after the album was put out.

There has been a lot of articles the past 24 hours on the upcoming (4 June) Sotheby's New York auction "You Might Well Arsk" of manuscript material for John's first two books, such as this or this, in response to the preview show opening.

The catalogue for the auction on the Sotheby's site is well worth a look, with each lot illustrated by zoomable images of it when you press on the image.

For those in the UK, Saturday's edition of The Times includes a selection of unpublished photos from their archive.

EMI Music Australia has uploaded a video to YouTube celebrating the 50th anniversary of their tour there.

Next Friday is International Beatles Fan Day and fans are being invited to listen to All You Need Is Love at 6pm. The article suggests either 6pm Liverpool or 6pm your own time, which doesn't seem to make it a universal moment.
