According to Wikipedia, The Beach Boys are currently Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks.

Never heard of the last two.

EDIT: Johnston was apparently with them from ’65-72 so he’s on Pet Sounds. Didn’t know that. Marks was with them ’62-’63, and rejoined them in the ’90s.

Too bad I can’t get soundcheck passes… Those songs sound like they’d be awesome.

Los Angeles has been confirmed! August 10 at Dodger Stadium. This has been rumored for months ever since Jackie DeShannon announced it months ago on Breakfast with the Beatles.

* The new 4K version of A Hard Day’s Night will screen in 50 US cities. I haven’t yet come across a full list of cities, but the LA Times mentions it will screen for a week at Cinefamily, the place where the Albert Maysles tribute took place.

* WogBlog has the cover for the limited edition Japanese release of NEW.

* MeatFreeMondays has a profile on Paul’s tour caterer, EYHO.

Hard to keep up with the lineup (and no, I won’t mention the fact we still consider them the Beach Boys across various lineups when some bands, not naming names or anything, apparently are no longer the band when one member has unfortunately passed away).

Anyhoo – was a big fan back in the day so was all aboard with Bruce, though David was news to me – so thanks for the update.

And yes parlance, I also thought they were now basically kaput – would be nice to see the lineup here do a show.

If you think their lineup changed a lot, I was looking up something about the La’s the other day and naturally landed on Wikipedia. Apparently there are just 2 members left and they had about 20 past members.

When your lineup changes that much, your band is just a joke really.

Arent there about 56 differing line-ups of the Drifters, most out on tour at the same time under the same name but in different locations?

A more recent one would be the Sugababes who at the time of their last album had no surviving members of the original line-up. And to make it even more ridiculous the original members have since gotten back together and go about under a different name.

It is interesting how many permutations some of these ‘bands’ have/had.

Bringing it back to the Beatles; I would have been OK with Klaus and Billy replacing Paul – I don’t know if it was ever actually a possibility given John’s desire to go it alone – but it was a nice 5-minute daydream; I was just listening to the Ringo album a few days ago and the first track reminded me of the gossip back then as it had that lineup.

I think they (the Sugababes) are still officially together as a band but their last single tanked (so badly it suddenly became a free download, well thats how it was reported in the papers), and i think so did the album, so nothing has been released since. I think the fans got fed up with the every changing line-ups. Whats even more surreal in their story is that the original line-up sued the replacement members in a bid to win back the name ‘Sugababes’ and lost hence the alternate name they now go under – Mutya Keisha Siobhan.

Can’t agree. Beatles’ strength is that they are John Paul George and Ringo.
