Beatles Examiner article on radio host Mark Silverman's idea to have a Beatles reunion at Candlestick Park featuring John and George holograms.

Personally, I find the whole hologram thing horrifically tacky, and if I were a celebrity, I'd stipulate in my will that my estate ensures that such a thing never happens to my likeness.

But given the excitement over the Tupac and Michael Jackson holograms, I feel like I'm in the minority. What do you think?

It's just weird when someone's dead they're dead! End of!

If the Lennon/Harrison estates consent to John/George holograms, I will dislike them a tad bit more. I don't support a "Beatles reunion" so long as John and George remain dead, The Beatles will never be back together!

Same as Parlance and ASJ. Stinks of a tactless stunt to achieve a Beatles reunion that cannot happen due to two being no longer with us and i cannot for the life of me see George being happy with being on stage as a Beatle again whether alive or dead. Thankfully Olivia seems to not to go against what she feels George wouldnt have wanted if he were alive so she is more likely to not grant permission to use his image. Yoko on the other-hand might see it as art and lead the campaign to get it happening.

Actually i'm not that convinced Paul and Ringo would be keen to perform alongside holograms of their favourite bandmates either – tho maybe they are and we'll get a 'live' performance of Now and Then, the ultimate publicity for the newest 'Beatles' single.

Given Paul's recent comments implying that having a reunion would have tarnished the legacy, I can't see him being keen on it.

I thought the Michael Jackson thing looked quite cool, but still, it's not real. It's just another way to earn money. I don't know if you have it in English, but in Dutch we have a saying that says ''one man's death is another man's bread''. I think you can all figure out what that means. Same goes for releasing so called ''collaboration songs'' like Michael Jackson ''did with'' Justin Timberlake. Also, I agree with the rest ASJ, Parlance and Meanmistermustard said.

I guess I would be against it… It just wouldn't feel right. Very odd, as well. There would be the age difference, John was 40 when he died, so you'll have the 40 year old John next to a 71 year old Paul… Weird! I can also imagine how strange it must be for Ringo and Paul to be performing next to their mates. Would they want to? Probably not…

See it just doesn't look right, does it?

I agree with Linde about the money part.

I don't need a Beatles reunion, because I already live in a dream world where I always think of The Beatles as a group that is still together and still look young… a-hard-days-night-john-6

I thought that the Freddie Mercury hollogram was cool, but that was because the audience was so into it. I don't think it's right to use their likenesses without knowing what they would've been okay with. I don't see a point in a reunion half a century after the fact anyway. It's nice when Paul and Ringo get together and perform, but seeing "John" and "George" on stage now wouldn't feel right.

We still have Paul and Ringo actively touring and we should enjoy that. In another 50 years when they've been gone for a while, if they want to have all four of them performing I Want To Hold Your Hand in hologram form, I'll have no problem because then its just a 3D video (which would actually be pretty cool).

Absolutely against the whole idea – just because we have the technology doesn't mean it should be employed in such a cynical, tacky and embarrassing manner. I would lose a lot of respect for Olivia, Sean, Yoko etc. (or whoever "owns" the identities in question) if they ever sanctioned such a thing.

(SMDH at the idea of the Tupac/MJ/Freddie Mercury holograms too, even though I don't take it so personal in those cases.)

The gold standard of the disembodied reunion was Natalie Cole with her father, the late great Nat King Cole, singing his hit "Unforgettable".

It was done in 1991, which as Wikipedia tells us, "won three awards at the Grammy Awards of 1991; Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance".

Well, knowing that won all those awards, the Grammies have lost all credibility with me now. *sarcasm*

I agree with Mr Kite. It'd be weird to have dead John and George performing with old living Paul and Ringo. I'd be fine if a while after Paul & Ringo are both gone (hopefully not for very long time), if they make all 4 Beatles as holograms, perhaps to recreate Shea Stadium, but if it's half of them I'd find it very weird.

Whoa. Just looking at the title of this thread… We're living in the future.

I don't really mind either way. If it was for the whole thing, it'd get a bit cheesy and weird. But if it was something like a short cameo, like walking up to and smiling at Paul at the end, then it could be really effective and touching.

Never knew this happened.

Not a hologram but no reason why this couldn't be used for a John & Paul or any other person type thing .
