OfflineTempting as that may be, I'm going to have to go with the tried-and-true "If you buy me this [something I really want, i.e. Beatles album], then I'll get you this [new towel set, Sting album, awkward frog sculpture] for Christmas. Maybe I'll even clean my room for a change."

You bought the remastered red and Blue albums? I would have thought you already had all the songs
I have the Stereo Box Set, so no, I won't do it. The thing is that I have some balance in my iTunes account and I don't really know what to do with it. I'm slowly buying some songs from other artists I like, instead of the whole albums.
My next Beatle shopping project is the solo albums. this month I'm getting Plastic Ono, Band on the Run and Electric Arguments.
Oh and those are the privileges of making a living, I can spend my money in whatever Beatle thing I want, even if my Dad hates them.

Well, if you do end up trying it, I hope you'll have more luck than I did.
The response I got was "No, only for crack"
It was worth a try.

So your mom hates '60s & '70s music yet likes Sting?!
That's just sad.

OfflineRight--The Kid here sez that FINALLY she might be able to get her (15 y.o.) pals to buy some Beatles' music, now that it's on iTunes…but as for our household, let's just say we've got a LOT of Beatles recordings and won't be buying any more until they come out in 5.1 or some higher resolution than the USB 24 bit version….I'm still reelin' from the remasters and the Rock Band multi-tracks…..

Band on the Run is in my top 5 albums. It's amazing! Still haven't got Electric Arguments yet though
Right then, so the iTunes stuff is half as much as the Remasters. But I really really love listening to CDs in my car. What do you guys think I should get? Does the Remaster set come with extra goodies? And Paul? I might have to go with that one. but it's so expensive

OfflineOh, I'd go with CDs over computer files every time…..like Skye sez, for that inevitable, heart-sinking feeling of "Where…..where did all my songs go?!?! I knew I should-a backed-up the computer, ruzzah-fruzzah-frigga-fruggin'……."
Plus, the art-work on the box sets is simply beautiful, no question! The record labels on the discs….oh, man, niiiiiiice! And the sound…..ahhhh, I'm still blown away by them!
The 24 bit/USB files sound pretty sweet but I'd only spring for them over the remasters if you're one of those insane people (sheepishly raises hand) who won't be entirely satisfied until they're listening to THE master tapes themselves. The master tapes were digitized as 24 bit/ 192 khz files--the current CD issue is the standard Redbook 16 bit/41.1 khz. So, while the CDs sound great--especially compared to what was out there on CD--EMI/Apple has higher resolution versions. If they put those out in some sort of DVD audio format, and I'll buy yet another set…..(I know, sucker….)
The iTunes offerings seem aimed more at the casual fan: the really ardent Beatle fans were the ones running the box set stock empty at Amazon when they first came out……*heh!*

OfflineYou sound like me. I am so thrilled with the box set, would love to own the USB, but will not be completely satisfied until I can buy a time machine to go back and be in the studios while the master tapes were being recorded. Untl that machine is built, however, I'm glad to have the tangible discs for the same reason you and skye mentioned. This reminds me of the scene in Men in Black when Tommy Lee Jones said to Will Smith, "looks like I'll have to buy the White Album again!".
From the press release it looks like I can finally get the Beatles Album Art into my iPod so that's exciting as well.
As for you CranberrySauce, don't dis the gnomes!
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, Let it roll for all its worth.
