Erm… somebody seems to have forgotten Goodnight! Ringo got his standard 1 track per album (as the White was a double he got 2).

Making the Ringo White single!!! A and B side. Which way ’round would you put them?

this would be a double B side single

That might be the hardest I’ve laughed today. :D

Unfortunately the Paul solo album doesn’t end that well!

Back In The USSR
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Wild Honey Pie
Martha My Dear
Blackbird
Rocky Raccoon
Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?
I Will
Birthday
Mother Nature’s Son
Helter Skelter
Honey Pie

Yeah that might need some major sequencing I think. :P

You forgot ‘Can You Take Me Back’ (the 30 second song between Cry Baby Cry and Revolution 9 ).

A very high percentage of the time I read White Album solo record lists they leave out my favorite song, “Long, Long, Long .” So I am definitely satisfied with the double album.

That is definitely an underrated track. Admittedly, I forget about it until I hear it again. I don’t know why, because it is soooooo good.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

I think the whole “it would’ve been better as a single album” argument is definitely missing the point of the The White Album . I was sad to find out that Mr. Martin shares this view, and wishes that they had edited it down to a single LP’s worth of material.

It works brilliantly as the total antithesis to the sleek, professional and era-defining art piece that was Pepper. Take out it’s incredible length and more wackier/misguided moments (think “Revolution 9 ” or “Wild Honey Pie “), then it’s just another very very good rock album from The Beatles. Which is fine, but they already had plenty of those.

This isn’t directed to anyone specific in this thread, by the way, it’s more of a general response to the position I see lots of people take. I’d take out “Revolution 9 ” & “Good Night “, as Paul’s whimsical outro to “Cry Baby Cry ” is very effective as an end point. It sort of personifies the album at that stage. Enough is enough. I love it.

Revolution by John Lennon

  1. Dear Prudence
  2. Glass Onion
  3. Revolution
  4. I’m So Tired
  5. Julia
  6. Yer Blues
  7. Something to Hide
  8. Cry Baby Cry
  9. Sexy Sadie
  10. Happiness Is A Warm Gun
  11. Revolution #9 (hidden track)

I cut out the two weakest tracks, Bungalow Bill and Good Night .  This custom album starts out with some punchy rock but settles into his deeper songs.  And, of course, it ends with his best track Happiness Is A Warm Gun .  The inclusion of Revolution 9 is debatable, but I could totally see it as a hidden track on a rare deluxe edition print of the record.

As for Paul, dear lord…  You’d be lucky to make an EP out of it.

Helter Skelter would make a great hard rock opener.  Back In The USSR is a solid rock track.  Ob-La-Di sounds good but is lazy in concept.  Mother Nature’s Son and Blackbird are two strong finale tracks.  As for the middle, who knows.

I could easily get a double EP out of Paul’s material which i would be obsessed with. Aside from the ones you listed ‘I Will ‘ is a gorgeous ballad, one of Paul’s best and ‘Why Don’t We Do It In The Road’ is a fantastic dirty rocker which is far more John in concept; which John realised and was upset Paul didnt ask him to be part of. The lyrics aren’t up to much but the track itself is great. I also really like ‘Rocky Raccoon ‘ and ‘Wild Honey Pie ‘ could be that weird mystery bonus track that pops up and makes everyone wonder what the hell was going on.
