I thought it was quite appropriate, @Beatlebug.

As someone who has written a lot of poetry (2000+), some of which is in the Poetry thread, I learnt early on that how you lay out the words on a page guides the reader on how to read it, so that their reading echoes your intended phrasing. This is what I think they’re doing here, presenting them almost as poems, while guiding you toward their phrasing of the lines. I have used many similar tricks over the years.

I just fired this up on Spotify. I hadn’t listened to it as a whole in a little while, rather in piecemeal fashion as tracks appeared randomly on my player.

So happy that the lads didn’t take George Martin’s advice and make it one good single album. Because there is just so much here that’s so good, in many genres. It just takes me through so many moods and feelings. You’ll be happy to know that this go ’round I didn’t even pass up Revolution 9 . And have to agree that no matter how I feel about it, it has a place on this album, and I’m glad John fought for its inclusion here. It’s really jarring though, to go from that into Good Night . I’ve said before that Good Night has a special place in my heart due to me mum singing it to me as a lullaby when I was a wee one.

I don’t mind Yoko in Bungalow Bill as the “mum”… I think it’s funny and fitting. yoko-ono_01 I also love how I can hear Ringo so very clearly in the choruses. ahdn_ringo_09

Not my favorite, but one of my favorites. Possibly top three depending on the day and my mood.

Funny. I consider Abbey Road the best but Revolver is my favorite.

I cannot remember who or where (sorry to the individual) but the below video was upped elsewhere on the forum earlier. Since Joe has an article on the interview along with quotes from the interview I thought I’d tie them together and post both here.

The White Album is probably my second favourite, just pipping Revolver . It has more deeper cuts and is just packed with so much awesomeness (even though some of the tracks are pretty weak – Honey Pie ).

It has a really weird vibe and character to it that makes it the most unique record in their discography.

I feel the same way about The Beatles as well, it has some of their best tracks but also some of their weakest tracks.

I’ve seen quite a bit of talk on here lately of the White Album having so many weak tracks. While some of the songs are weaker while standing alone, together the tracks make a strong and well flowing album.

That’s true, every song contributes to the album in some way. There’s nothing starkly out of place like Yellow Submarine on Revolver . In my opinion only 3 of the 30 songs are weak: Honey Pie , Don’t Pass Me By and Why Don’t We Do It in the Road.

I actually like Wild Honey Pie and Revolution 9

I like all the songs on TWA. The only song I won’t and can’t listen to anymore is Revolution 9 . I’ve heard it both forwards and backwards and it just totally creeps me out no end, never played it again after. I skip it every time on the album after that, had it off my playlist for a while, but added it back for the completeness of the album and am back to skipping it when listening.

All three are songs that I love. I challenge someone to name one I don’t like. My least favorite is Don’t Pass Me By , which I still like because of Jack Fallon’s fiddle playing.

The music contained is so widespread and sprawling in its genres it’s difficult to say what could be out of place.
