OfflineI looked for duplicates. I know there are at least two threads devoted to covers. Then I realized that there aren't any threads to post your covers! There are threads where individual members posted their covers, but I thought I'd create an open thread for cover posting.
I know there are members who perform Beatles songs. *cough*paulsbass*cough*
Well, I do too! And I thought I'd share my cover of "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" with you guys.

OfflineI just listened to yours, M3. Personally, you hit a home run. It's great. And somehow, your voice sounds like I always thought it did. However I'll probably never actually post a cover of my own, seeing as how my sing voice is bad.

OfflineThanks!
I was in my hotel room.
I was kind of nervous, because I don't like the way I sound when recorded.
I did about 5 takes. The one I posted was the only one when I tried to imitate the flutes.
I'd like to see yours, Sun king. I'm sure your voice isn't as bad as you think it is!

OfflineOh yes it is. This is the one time where the younger of us can claim the other is ignorant. Blissfully ignorant. And anyways, I would never, ever post pictures or videos of my person on the web. Ever. Even when I get Facebook, I'll still not use a real picture.

OfflineWow nice to meet you M3!!! That cover is good! I think you have a nice lovely voice. (Mine is just awful. When I sing the dogs cover their ears and start howling) I like the "hey!"

OfflineI've always been doing Beatles-covers since I got Audacity (HA!).
But I actually like to do it live (With perfroming Beatles-songs).

Great cover, M3! I loved it. The flute bit was a nice touch.
We also finally get to hear Please Go Away, the one with the caribbean feel, like it would go well with claves (I think that's what it was
)
You've already seen my band's covers of Back in the USSR and Imagine (not really Beatles, but yeah), so I don't really have anything to post. Maybe in the future?
If I could sing, I'd post something, buuuuut… Yeah.

OfflineWow, thanks, guys!
When I watched it on YouTube, I thought "I sound like a dork."
@Sun king: What's your YouTube name? (You can PM me if you don't want to broadcast it.)

OfflineGood guitar work. I think you might have tried too hard to impersonate John, which meant you didn't sing as well as perhaps you can (I really hope you were trying to impersonate John, otherwise I've just insulted your singing. Oops). You're a teenage girl from Utah, John was a man in his 20s from Liverpool. You're never going to recreate his vocal, so just sing naturally- maybe that's harder with a song you know and love.

OfflineNice thread, I think I'm going to use my holidays (I'm a teacher
to get some videos going, and you can definitely expect some Beatles stuff.
First let me express my surprise seeing you being blonde!
You look completely different than I imagined you.
And I give you a lot of respect for making your own videos and going online with them.
Being a teacher, even a guitar teacher as well, while acknowledging your good effort, I can't fully suppress some comments. I hope you're ok with that.
The original key – G – is always a great key for playing songs easily. I use it all the time in my guitar classes. The only problem:
Most of my students are women, and for women G most often is either too high or too low.
So, hearing you CAN sing high very well in the flute part, I suggest you change the key to one that suits your voice better (Maybe D).
Next thing is the "cheating" G you do. I always get students who learned this G somewhere else and they do it without the little finger, because it's too weak in the beginning.
So they use the G you do, without the pinky.
But they ALWAYS get into trouble when the key changes are quick.
So I further suggest you change your G. Do it with ring, middle and little finger. I know it’s uncomfortable at the beginning, but you will get used to it very quickly.
Apart from that, keep it up. People like people who love what they're doing, sometimes even more when it's not perfect!

OfflineThnks for the advice, paulsbass and Walrus! I'd give you apples, but I'm on my iPod.
*apples fall from the sky next to paulsbass and The Walrus*
Well OK then.

OfflineNice, M3! It takes a lot of guts to get up there and record that. I think I agree with Walrus, try being adventurous with your voice, find your own style! You're definitely on the right track. And never be afraid to use a capo. Just going along with what paulsbass was saying, it's fun to change up the key a bit. I find using a capo the most convenient way to do that.

Welcome!
And thank you for encouraging me to post my very first own youtube-video.
I just played the first Beatles track that came to my mind, and it turned out to be Rocky Raccoon!
Maybe the shirt inspired me…
Making that video wasn't actually that difficult, so I think there'll be more soon. Or I redo Rocky, since I wasn't completely satisfied with the "reviva-HAAAAL!".
Anyway, hope you like it.

OfflineWell done M3 and paulsbass. It looks like you both had fun recording those songs. I know I had fun listening to them.
M3 performed her own flute accompaniment and paulsbass his own background vocals at 2:53. Very talented.
Thank you both for sharing.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, Let it roll for all its worth.

OfflineThis is a really good idea for a thread. I love both of them, and well done for having the guts to post them in the first place. It's really odd seeing and hearing what you're like in real life aha. Let's get some more covers done!

Yeah, I know, it's funny there are actual people behind the usernames!
Now that I started making videos I can't be stopped:
Here's "Mother nature's song".
I guess that's the last one – for today!
PS: Please tell me again how I post links without the picture embedding!

OfflineSure.
This is how to insert a link in a message. this is great if you want to post a youtube video without embedding it.
1. Write a text that will be your link. Example "This is my video"
2. Highlight the text.
3. You will see in the icons of top, click on the icon with the "link". (The text must be highlighted so you can click on it)
4. A little window pops up. Paste the url from the webpage (or in this case, the youtube link)
5. And that's it.
