The London code for central London (which Abbey Road is in) is 0207 xxx xxxx, but if you're dialling internationally you'll need to dial (I think) +44 207 xxx xxxx.
However, it's worth repeating that this story is almost certainly nonsense, and the likelihood of any number remaining the same since 1970 is very low indeed. If you're going to call random numbers be aware that they may belong to private residences!
