John can deny that it was about LSD, but there is absolutely no doubt that LSD was the major influence for the song. But the name certainly came from Julian.
Yes! It was based on a drawing of a girl named Lucy by Julian. He titled it Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. It was Lucy with stars in the background. Lucy has passed away recently.

Is this really about LSD? I've been teased all this year for liking the Beatles. Calling them drugies and horrible song writers. Its been hard. So it's almost the end of the year and I want to clear things up for this song. I have heard that this song was about a painting by Juilan. Is this true? I need help on clearing this up.
