OfflineDay after day,
Alone on a hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he's just a fool,
And he never gives an answer,
But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning 'round.
Well on the way,
Head in a cloud,
The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him,
or the sound he appears to make,
and he never seems to notice,
But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning 'round.
And nobody seems to like him,
they can tell what he wants to do,
and he never shows his feelings,
But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning 'round.
Ooh, ooh,
Round and round and round.
And he never listens to them,
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him,
The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning 'round.
Ooh,
Round and round and round
I don't think so…

That's not what I meant. What I meant was that the way Paul sang it, and the instrumentation best describe Paul McCartney as a musician. For example, whenever I think of Paul I think of this song.

OfflineI've really missed these arguments. I think Paul himself said it was about a character like the Maharishi, so that sort of explains it. I've always thought it was at least a little bit about Paul, maybe he's looking at himself through John's perspective or something like that.

That makes one of us.
BTW Gnik – good to see the sub back and better than ever. We'll have to Christen it.
It needed a week for repairs. But since we have to christen it, the name has to come out these lyrics:
Quando para mucho mi amore de felice corazón
Mundo paparazzi mi amore chicka ferdy parasol
Presto obrigado tanta mucho Kay can eat it carousel
I'm leaning towards chicka ferdy.

1.) See how TIRESOME it is to scroll along all this stuff AGAIN?? For the 532nd time: Work on your quotation!
2.) As I said: Work on your English so people can get your point better.
An instrumentation can not "describe" someone. I get your point NOW, but I don't agree with it. It's a good example for his soft piano-ballad side, but he was way more versatile.
It's ok for you to connect this song with Paul the most, and it IS a beautiful song.
However, the song providing the greatest example for Paul as a musician might (!) be "Maybe I'm amazed": Great drumming AND piano AND guitar and AMAZING vocals.

1) I really don't know my way around the quotation system.
2) My english is bad?
3) I really don't think Maybe I'm Amazed is the best example for Paul. Sure, it's an amazing song, but it's one of a kind. One that Paul won't repeat if you know what I mean.

1) It's easy: Mark and DELETE!
2) As I pointed out: Sometimes your choices of words are misguiding.
3) You were talking about TFOTH as the "best description for Paul as a musician". Since he doesn't even play guitar on this one, nor drums, it obviously is NOT the "best" example.
"Maybe I'm amazed", on the other hand, shows his skills on the mentioned instruments AND his vocal diversity with all his soul, sweetness and roughness in one song. (TFOTH is just a soft ballad) Thus it's a FAR better example. I'm looking forward to other suggestions.
It looks as if you're now going from "describing Paul as a musician" to "looking for most typical McCartney song". Again: Please make yourself more clear.
Naming a "typical Macca song" is REALLY hard to do. Remember, this is the guy you hear when you put in the White Album and listen to "Why don't we do it in the road" and directly after that "I will"…

1) Figured it out.
2) Sometimes, not all of the time.
3) What I meant was that it's the usual music for McCartney songs.

3) Like "Helter Skelter", "Birthday", "Why don't we do it in the road", "Nod your head", "Only Mama knows", "Monkberry Moon delight" and about 500 other McCartney songs that are completely different than "TFOTH"??

To me, there are more songs that sound like TFOTH than Helter Skelter. That's just me, though.

Yeah I was thinking chicka ferdy or de felice corazón. Unless of course someone can figure out what the hell John says at the end of Rain. I'll call it the USS Svera Bak Memory de Comerik-dah. Anyone have any guesses?
