I just thought of four of fish and finger pies, some particularly naughty slang that snuck into Penny Lane . It was decades before I found out what it meant.

Revolution has the slang phrase make it – to get off with (itself slang!).

Also, some consider the idea of men being obliged to pay after a date to be a dated concept. Two for one there!

I did say the top of my head, guys. :D They never mentioned rockets or radar. Mentioned guns in two songs. “Choking smokers”, now that might go away! It’s possible pilchards and penguins might become extinct :(

I’ve had that thought about that song several times. This is the perfect thread for it!

Something else that is going away: Ticket To Ride . Around here you can’t get tickets on buses or trains any more, its all on a card you top up. She’s got a top up to ride, but she don’t care doesn’t have the same ring to it for me.

If driving their sat nav probably took them into a river, up a mountain or down into a creek.

Letters and postcards are something mentioned in Beatles songs, the postcards will probably survive, but its rare to get a letter that isn’t business-related now. Also, will Captain Marvel have to be explained to the kiddies?

In Michelle , is Paul saying that Michelle can’t understand him because she doesn’t know English? If so, that may become a thing of the past. Many of the younger generations are learning English in school and/or via the internet, much to the ahdn_paul_01paul-mccartneya-hard-days-night-paul-3 of the Académie française.

Then, again, how long will the English language last? It has to last so the people alive in 9909 can still understand the words of The Beatles.

I find the idea of hobnail boots to be a bit dated (with or without multicoloured mirrors, and wouldn’t that make them a bit obvious?), I’ve actually never seen a real pair.

‘Desmond takes a trolley to the jeweller’s store’  Here’s one bound for Penny Lane :-)

I’m sure I remember travelling on one when I was a toddler in Leicester but I remember clanking and my dad says trolleybuses were quiet having rubber tyres.  He thinks it must have been a tram.

Edit- Just noticed it’s going from Penny Lane to Myrtle St :-)

Well, I can’t understand much of Mozart or Wagner, it doesn’t stop me enjoying some of their operas (and Schubert and Mahler songs for that matter). I’m sure someone in 9909 will be able to translate.

And is there significance in 9 before 909? :)

I always thought the trolley in Ob-La-Di was a market stall trolley of 2 wheels and 2 handles variety.
