I think the line "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" is a real pull on the heart. Too poignant wasn't it?
The line that got me was "Before you cross the street, Take my hand" Which is in the same verse. Powerful Verse or what! It makes me shudder and then bawl because, you know, Take my hand. Its the thought of it. We all know John Lennon isn't with us anymore. And it just gets me. "Take my hand". I never really like talking about John not being with us anymore because, As sad as it may seem, John Lennon really did change my life. It sounds daft I know, But I really think he did! And i think thats what gets me about this song.

And there I was, feeling the pain of the three, the only thought that came to my mind was 'How could someone do that to John?'
At the beginning of last year when I first started to really like the Beatles, especially John, I found out he was dead. When I read the words on the computer screen, "John Lennon died December 8th 1980,"I started bawling my eyes out, NO LIE. Yes, it is a bit late for me to start crying, but I didn't know. Chapman became my worst enemy, and still is. I have an UBER-CRUSH on John, so my eyes start to water when I listen to Let It Be and think of his death.
I did that very same thing. Apart from the Uber-Crush part all of that sums it up perfectly. I just saw died. And that was it.for the rest of the week i went into a sort of depression. I was so upset about the fact he was dead. When I got over it I looked up how he died. After I looked up how he died I printed of 2 pictures of Chapman. One was on a dartboard. The other is now ash as I through it in the fire. Strong and slightly obsessive, scary, weird. But thats how I reacted. My Idol was dead. And there is nothing I can do…

Oh my. I just looked up Here Today – he really was having trouble. Very moving.
I welled up when he sang "I love you". I probably would have gone for it completely if I wasn't sitting here in the office with people all around me.
I couldn't find a copy of the DVD version of Something – the only ones on YouTube are crowd shots.
Too much. Too, too much.
When they both came on screen I had to look away… ugh.
That hit me right in the heart.

OfflineGood Night can always bring me to tears. Especially after certain moments that seem to be happening to much lately.
If I Fell is another one that can sometimes make me teary eyed. But mostly just from the beauty of the song.

OfflineI think I mentioned some Beatles songs that make me cry (A Long and Winding Road, Something, In my Life).
But some months ago when I got George's All things must pass and I heard Apple Scruffs, when I paid attention to the lyrics, I was like "Oh my.. he's talking about me!" and in the moment he says "How I love you" I couldn't help but to feel tears in my eyes. Ok call me silly, but for someone who has had a massive crush with this man since I'm a kid, listening to a song when he tells you that he loves you, that's wow. Every time I feel down or depressed, I listen to it and I feel happier. It's better and cheaper to pay a doctor for listening to you.
And it's not a Beatle song, but it's impossible for me to listen Julian Lennon's Photograph Smile without feeling sad. And it's not the Lennon factor, He could be Julian Smith, and I'd feel the same. It's an amazing song.

OfflineI let one of my friends(who is a guy) listen to "God" by Lennon. He was fine for most of the song, but once the lyric "I don't believe in Beatles" came up, Danni lost it. Same thing happened when he listened to "Real Love", except he was then sobbing.

Danni is simply a fag.
Edit: Danni is simply a Jonas Brother. Is that better, Skye?
Not really, the implication is still there. I'm probably missing a lot of the back story, but if he's gay, so what? Or if he's simply affected by the same music you love, then why mock him?

Oh, nononononono. You've got it all wrong. See, we're not talking about gay fags, we're talking about the fags that ride their Harley around town.

OfflineI get misty-eyed over "In My Life."
But the only song that ever literally sent shivers up and down my spine is "A Day in the Life." Still does, after decades of listenings.
And, yeah, I cried when I got the news of John Lennon's death. I was living in Miami. Got up to go to work, turned on the local rock station. They were playing a Beatles song. Then another. "Cool," I thought. That wasn't the norm. Then came another. Then the DJ came on and said that they were playing Beatles and Lennon all day because John had been shot and killed the night before. I couldn't believe it. I sat down on the bed and stared at nothing for awhile. Then I got in my car and cried all the way to work. I'm teary-eyed right now, just thinking back on it.
The Beatles have been the sound track of my life ever since I watched them explode on the Ed Sullivan Show. I felt like I had lost a family member.

OfflineThese forums, and Topics, are so great in the way that they can sometimes go for months without a reply, but they are still here to allow us to add to, because no one can predict when they're going to want to share thoughts like you just did, billyshears. Since I'm relatively new, I haven't been able to read all of the different discussions, so when I check the 'newly updated topics' I can check those out and catch up. The people behind this site truly know what their followers want. But I have to read all the prior replies before writing my own, and there have been some excellent ones, yours included.
Some friends and I were at an outdoor theater where people had gathered for mourning, and John's songs were coming out of the loudspeakers; I knew I would come apart if they played 'In My Life', but there was this crushing, unreal sobbing that swelled all through the crowd as it started playing, a collective 'gut-punch' we all shared, and guys twice my size were bawling louder than I was.
And come to think of it, I rarely get through the 'Love' CD without crying at some point; I'm just so relieved that they did such a respectful, exhilerating treatment suitable for the material they had to 'tamper' with!

Offline"Let It Be" made me lose it while driving on the interstate Friday. I've heard it a billion times, but it hit me hard in a way it had never done before. But I guess that's just the magic of The Beatles for ya: over time, old songs become new experiences. ![]()

OfflineI´ve never found Let It Be to be one that makes me cry, or even sad. I know my mom cries before he´s past the first line but I have never cried becuase of it. It´s a happy song in a way, his mom goes to him when he needs help, and he helps her. So why cry? It´s good!
Always, always, ALWAYS cry at In My Life, Because and While My guitar Gently Weeps. Can´t help it.
