OfflineI realized a while back that it seems like Paul sings a handful of songs that don’t actually have words in the choruses. Instead, he just vocalizes and makes some “ooh” or “doo” sounds. The only examples that come to mind are “Mother Nature’s Son” and “Rocky Raccoon.” Any others that you guys can think of?
By the way, I’m not knocking his songwriting ability in any way. I LOVE Paul. It was just something that occurred to me.

OfflineHe does do that "ooh" or "doo" thing a lot, doesn't he? He also whistles a lot! I never really noticed that before, either. (I do love whistling parts in songs because I can't do it. He does it in some solo songs, and John does it in Jealous Guy…it's beautiful, and it always amazes me the way they can both carry a tune while whistling!)

I think Penny Lane has a chorus…"Penny Lane is in my ears, and in my eyes, there beneath the blue suburban skies…"
But I don't think Tomorrow Never Knows has a chorus.

"Though I know I'll never lose affection…I love you more"?
Neither of the "Sgt. Pepper etc." songs have a chorus, She's Leaving Home doesn't really, and the Abbey Road Medley doesn't except for She Came In Through the Bathroom Window.

OfflineWhen I want to think of a song without choruses, the only one that comes to my mind is "Why don't we do it in the road"

OfflineYou guys are on a roll! What I actually meant by the topic was songs without *lyrics* in the chorus, in which case I think only the two I mentioned qualify. (Not gonna lie, I listened to the whole catalogue today to see if there were more … ) Well, actually, I think Hey Jude also qualifies. But I didn’t even realize that they actually had so many songs without true choruses. Those Beatles, slipping a fast one by us after so many listens!
I’m going to do some more thorough listening tomorrow/this weekend and see if I can come up with any others.

OfflineSorry, but I don't completely get your original intention – and the other thing is more fun!
First:
Sorry, PennyLane, but if "Penny Lane is in my ears" is not a chorus, than it's a refrain – and that's the excact same thing, changed words or not!
"She's leaving home" has the famous chorus with John joining in.
More songs without a chorus/refrain: from the top of my head
Dear prudence
Glass onion
Yer Blues
Honey pie
Good night
A day in the life
Getting better
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite
Good Morning
Norwegian Wood
Wow, l just got started, now I have to go, but I will continue later! Looks as if they did more songs without a chorus later on!

Thanks for throwing yourself on that grenade for us. It must have been tough.
No matter what your original intention for the thread was, it's still a fun one! Thanks for starting it.

OfflineOk, I realized it's way easier to list the songs which HAVE a chorus!
Sometimes it might be difficult to make differences between chorus and bridge, and when starts just a line being a chorus…
Rubber Soul:
Drive my car
What goes on
Girl (even if it's just "Giiiiirl..breatttttttthhhhh")
Run for your life
that's 4 song with a chorus, 10 songs without!
Revolver:
Taxman
Eleanor Rigby
(not sure about "Love you to")
Here, there and everywhere
Yellow submarine (MOST obviously!!!)
She said, she said
For no one
Doctor Robert
Got to get you into my life
that's at least 8 with a chorus, 6 without
Sgt. Peppers:
With a little help
Lucy in the sky
She's leaving home
When I'm 64
that 4 with a chorus, 9 without
White Album:
Obladi, Oblada
Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
Happiness is a warm gun (maybe the last part counts as refrain, although it's one of many)
Blackbird
Don't pass me by
Julia
Birthday
Everybody's got something to hide…
Helter Skelter
Revolution
Savoy Truffle
Cry baby cry
that's 12 with a chorus and 18 without
MMT:
MMT
Fool on the hill (although it's instrumental)
Blue Jay Way
I am the walrus
Hello Goodbye
Penny Lane
Baby you're a rich man
All you need is love
that's at least 8 with a chorus, 3 without
Abbey Road:
Come together
Maxwell's silver hammer
Octopus's garden
that's 3 with a chorus 14 without (although you could say that e.g. "Carry that weight" is JUST a chorus with the verses…)
LEt it be:
Dig a pony
Across the universe
I me mine
Let it be
One after 909
Get back
that's 6 with a chorus, 4 without (not counting Maggie Mae and Dig it)
All in all that's 45 song WITH a chorus and 74 without a chorus! Who would have thought that?!
As I said, it's possible now to discuss PEACEFULLY over one or the other line or bridge or word or melody being a chorus or not.
Anyone caring about checking the first albums?

OfflineI'm not sure but Twist and Shout doesn't have a chorus, the chorus would be the screams right?
Man I have no idea what a chorus or a bridge is.

For me is, I don't know what a chorus is in Beatles' standards. Some are more obvious ( A Hard Days' Night, She Loves You), but then there are no obvious ones ( Revolution, do the "all rights" count as a chorus?).
Good job Paulsbass for going through the albums.

We Can Work It Out, that part of the song changes. Paul says the second time "Penny Lane is in my ears… fish and finger pie" or however the phrase is. So I don't think it really is the chorus but more of a bridge or refrain.
