OfflineHey guys, recently I was searching for a version of Long Tall Sally live in 1966, as it was quite rare to find. The only one I found was a cut Candlestick Park version. Then, out of pure luck I found this video. However, I know it's hard to confirm these types of things, but I was just wondering if this was actually from 1966, not 1965/1964. Here's the video:
The vid itself is from the 1965 NME Awards, but the audio is not.
ALSO: It could be a fake, at the end it sounds a lot like just a modern day crowd, if this is a fake its a pretty good one.

OfflineI dont believe for a second the guys story of a secret gig the band did in 1966 that has never been reported since. Apart from that i dont have a clue.
And thanks to ITSWD post i remembered that they only revisited LTS for the Candlestick show, elsewhere it was Im Down.

OfflineA thought I had was *possibly* that this audio was from 1962 or 1963 when they began to play it live, and yeah I don't buy his story of it being a private performance.
*Note how he does only one 'wooo', and does only one 'yeah!'*
Also, ITSWD, there is 1 known live recording of them doing it live, which is from Candlestick Park (they played 2 ending songs during the 66' tours, I'm Down and Long Tall Sally). Here's that vid:

OfflineI think there is something poignant and relevant about the Candlestick performance being incomplete, a non definitive ending, what with the death of touring but the progression into the studio with Pepper. Going from LTS and the live shows to Strawberry Fields, the Pepper lp and/or even Revolver (tho that was out before) is a massive leap and this gives a jarring sudden stop effect – "what the heck; the tape stopped! what the heck is that? Strawberry Fields/Taxman/Pepper? How did they get there from here?" if you go chronologically. It was the end but wasnt.
I do find it amazing that an audience tape hasnt appeared over the years considering so many others shows from '66 have come out from various sources – tho many are in poor sound quality.
I'd like to know what happened to the self-taken timer-set photo of the 4 on stage after the concert had finished before they came off and were whisked out the Park. I dont remember it being in the Anthology and im sure i looked before. If anyone has seen it can they either post it or a link here. Thanks.

I wish Tony Barrow's tape hadn't run out halfway through the song. It would have been perfect to have the complete last concert. Still, let's just be grateful that he and Paul decided to tape it at all.
Yeah, I'm glad Paul decided to do that. I really wish there were actual recordings of Candlestick! I've come across only one, but it was for the opening song, "Rock and Roll Music"

OfflineThe whole Tony Barrow Candlestick tape is out there. The most common has added reverb on everything, which actually doesnt sound that bad, but Purple Chick released it mostly without on Live: The Final Tour. Its available to download online but i'll add my usual discloser to be careful where you go due to the big bad people on the net who like spreading diseases for your computer.
As for that performance of LTS i asked elsewhere and the train of thought was heading towards it not being The Beatles but an early Wings performance tho even that is now being disputed.

OfflineYes it does have that Star Club sound but so far only one performance has come to the surface and its not that. No reason why it cant be a new one but it doesnt sound like Ringo drumming.
