OfflineYellow Submarine (and Octupus Garden) are loved because Ringo just makes them sound so happy, it's just has to put a smile on your face.

OfflineThis has been said, but when I hear 'overrated Beatles songs' the first thing I can think of is Yesterday.
I love the song, and it's the song people think of with the word "Beatles"
They say it's their best, or Paul's best, but honestly, I think something underrated like Honey Pie is better than it.

OfflineMy issue with ATU is that none of the recordings are right. If a proper recording surfaces, I'd love it. But (and I say this with no malice intended), the band backing John is depressed and uninterested, especially Paul. Although a look at LIBN's version proves its beauty, I still think it wasn't done right. Love the lyrics, but the band did ruin it.

I will point you in the general direction of the Anthology version.
If you still don't like the song after that, c'est la vie. Those of us who love it will continue to do so.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, Let it roll for all its worth.

OfflineOh calm down, this isn't TNK part deux. I just couldn't stand the Spector one and forgot the Anthology version. Please retract statement of overratedness.

OfflineUnderrated: "Rocky Racoon"-"I Saw Her Standing There"-"Hello Goodbye"-and pretty much everything on "A Hard Day's Night","Please Please Me", "Beatles For Sale", "Magical Mystery Tour" and a few songs from "Help!" too.
Overrated:No Beatles Song Is Overrated
Overpopular:Well that's a whole different problem, overpopular beatles songs would be: "Yesterday","Come Together", "Let It Be", "Hey Jude", "Revolution", " In My Life".
*Special Mention* Revolution 9, as being absolute @$$.

OfflineI'd have to agree with the overpopular choices. With underrated, the only one I'd disagree with is Beatles For Sale. I've just never fallen in love with that album for some reason.
Welcome btw, cubbles4!

Can't agree more to that
Underrated: Most B-sides are really underrated, but the most underrated IMO is Old Brown Shoe, Rain and Baby You're A Rich Man! Awesome bass lines, especially the first one, even though it's not played by Paul, I suppose?
You Won't See Me (it's meant to be a "filler" song in Rubber Soul but to me it's really more than that)
If I Fell (quite a few people pointed this one out too)
Here, There and Everywhere (like the ooooooh and aaaaaaahs, and Ringo's drumming is really delicate in this song, this song is seldom credited though)
I Will (seldom hear anyone talking about this song either!)
Overrated/Overplayed:
Like what everybody else mentioned… Yesterday, Let It Be, Hey Jude, She Loves You, … Perhaps these songs are way too well-known, that people will never fail to mention these songs when they talk about the Beatles :/

OfflineI hate when people complain that people "always mention these songs". They were singles, after all. Ask any rock fan to name 1 Queen song, and 99% will say Bohemian Rhapsody. Ask those same fans to name 1 Stones song? Satisfaction, Symphony For The Devil, or It's Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It). If a song is/was a single, it gets released on the singles collections, and gets more airplay. It doesn't make a song bad because of it. And if that's the criteria for a song being "overrated" then what is this world coming to?

I see what you mean, but nobody thinks these songs are bad songs. I think it's more that The Beatles' music has so much more to offer than these singles. I get frustrated when friends of mine say they like The Beatles but only know Hey Jude and Yesterday, and I feel like sitting them down and playing them every other amazing song that The Beatles ever recorded. So for me, I think it's more that these singles get more credit than the dozens of other incredible Beatle songs, rather than these songs get more credit than they're worth.

OfflineHere's one underrated song from each album. It would probably be more accutately labeled "what's one non-popular song from each album that you like"
PPM: There's a Place
WTB: Til There Was You
BFS: Every Little Thing
AHDN: Tell Me Why
Help: It's Only Love (John hated this 'filler' song but I love it)
RS: Run For Your Life (Another John claimed to hate)
Revolver: I'm Only Sleeping (one of my favorite 5 Beatles songs for some reason)
SPLHCB: She's Leaving Home
MMT: Blue Jay Way
White Album Disc 1: I'm So Tired
White Album Disc 2: Cry Baby Cry
Yellow Submarine: Only A Northern Song (although I love Hey Bulldog and All Together Now)
AR: Oh! Darling (It's really hard to pick a song thats underrated here, too many classics and won't pick apart the meledy so its basically Maxwells vs. Oh Darling vs. Because lol)
LIB: Dig a Pony
Singles: Don't Let Me Down and We Can Work It Out (I know We Can Work It Out is an 'A-side' but I feel for an A-side its underrated and probably overshadowed by it's B-side (Day Tripper)).
He grooving such cookie spaghetti.
