I certainly agree (especially about AHDN). Great lists.

Overrated – Penny Lane. Good song and all, but I think pairing it with Strawberry Fields improves its stock.

Underrated – Cry Baby Cry, doesn't really stand out at first on the White Album, but I'm a sucker for John's sensitive stuff. The lyrics are just beautiful, the duchess of Kircaldy part always brings a smile to my face. Ringo has some pretty nasty fills, the bass line is really good and John's incredible rhythm guitar, which unfortunately gets drowned out a bit as it goes on but it completely drives the song.

Also the anthology version of Norwegian Wood, that has to be the weirdest song ever. I think Paul's harmony is more effective on that version than the actual record, it seems like John sort of out kicked his coverage on Rubber Soul, if that makes sense.

By the way I think I have the perfect amount of posts for awhile…peace to the Middle East. heart

I'm finding a lot of love for Magic Mystery Tour. Many people consider it a lesser album, but with exception of the title track (which I'm not a huge fan) and the previously released Strawberry Fields Forever, Penny Lane and All you need is love, the album has amazing songs: The Fool on the Hill, Flying, Blue Jay Way, Your Mother Should know, I am the Walrus, Baby you're a rich man. Some of these songs are obviously not underrated, but we tend to forget the fact they're in MMT.

I'm with you Gniknus. Peace and Love. heart

Overrated:

Yesterday – I absolutely LOVE this song, but to say that it's Paul's best.. I don't know about that. Most successfuf? Probably, but best? Not really.

Norwegion Wood – I just don't really see what people love about it, it's a good song, but I wouldn't call it great.

In My Life – This is a good song, and I love the piano bit, but there are so many people who I've heard call this one of their best songs, and in my opinion, I don't think it even comes close!!

All You Need Is Love – Great song, but I don't think it's as great as some people say it is.

Revolution – I like this song, but in my opinion, a lot of people like it for more than what it is. (If that makes any sense)

Underrated:

This Boy – This song is definitaley in my top ten, and I love John's part, where he sings just himself. Beautiful!

Hold Me Tight – I know a lot of people don't like this song, but I love it, I don't really know why though.

I Should Have Known Better – This song's really good, but unfortunately, not many people know it.

I've Just Seen A Face – This song is so perfect (probably not a good word choice), I can't even explain it.

For No One – I love this song, and as of like the past month, probably it's been my favorite song of theirs!!

I'm Only Sleeping – Even though For No One is currently my favorite Beatles song, this is my favorite off Revolver (probably doesn't make much sense though) and I just think more people should know it, because in my opinion, I think it's one of their bests.

Happiness Is A Warm Gun – This is, in my opinion; one of the best off The White Album, although it is not known by many people whe aren't Beatles fans I don't think.

Rocky Raccoon – I don't think many people like this song, but I love it!!

I could keep going with the underrated songs, but I guess I'll just leave it at that.a-hard-days-night-george-8

1. I think what most people dig about this song is the sitar. My favorite part is John's amazingly hot voice on it. a-hard-days-night-george-10

2. I know what you mean by it being your favorite song off the album with your favorite song. :)

Overrated: "Yellow Submarine". Is it just me? Am I the only person in this world that finds that song obnoxious? I like it, it's cute and all, but goooooshhhhhhh… when people talk of it, it sounds like a gift from God.

"Let It Be" is an amazing song; don't get me wrong. I just am not as fond of it as some people. Like, when I hear people say 'Oh yeah, I love the Beatles…like their songs "Let it Be" and "Hey Jude", oh and "Imagine"', I literally have no comment.

"Hey Jude" is a terrific song. But when I hear it repeatedly for hours on end (only song my cousin knows), I just want to do this:

Underrated: "Any Time At All". Again, is it just me? When I hear it, I just about adore John's voice…

"It's Only Love" makes me fall in love with John again and again and again, each time I hear it.

"This Boy"!!!! Omg…I'm not one for fan girl swoons but you just to love John…

Hi, Till There Was You!

I like the picture (but not its subject matter!).

I think your namesake is underrated because it's a cover.

EDIT:
BTW, if you couldn't find it, here's the Introduction Thread.

The most underrated song is…… For No One. It's beautiful, yet simple, emotional, yet restrained, and above all, mystifying.

I agree. This is possibly the best song he did as a Beatle. I love this song.

Does anyone else see For No One as part of a trilogy with You Won't See me and I'm Looking Through You?

Yes, I know they're on different albums. But if you listen to them in a certain order, they seem to tell a coherent story.

And all three are very underrated.

Overrated:

Michelle – It's cute, but sometimes it can get a bit annoying after a while!

Oh! Darling – [See above]

Revolution – It's a good song and everything, but I don't think it's one of their bestests!

Taxman – I don't know, I've just never really liked this one all that much!

And I Love Her - Fantastic song, but I don't really like how Paul sounds on this one, probably!

Underrated:

While My Guitar Gently Weeps - I don't care how many people praise this song. It's still underrated!

You Can't Do That – Probably my favorite song off AHDN!

Old Brown Shoe – I love this song and I think it should've been the a-side over The Ballad of John and Yoko!

For No One – Might just be my second favorite Beatles song(after ADitL, of course)!

Ob-La-Di Ob-La Da, When I'm 64, Your Mother Should Know, Honey Pie & Maxwell's Silver Hammer - Lots of people think Paul's "granny shit" songs are annoying I guess, but I love them!

Baby You're A Rich Man - !

After I took it, it opened my eyes. We only use one-tenth of our brain. Just think what we could all accomplish if we could only tap that hidden part. It would mean a whole new world. If the politicians would take LSD, there wouldn't be any more War or poverty or famine.

Yes – very interesting, indeed. It's also a great idea for a separate thead.

For No One is completely out of place on Revolver (not at all psychadelic), but it doesn't matter because it is so brilliant.

I feel like Maxwell's Silver Hammer seems out of place on Abbey Road. The only track on that album that I'm really not keen on.

Overrated

Octopus's Garden, Yellow Submarine, Nowhere Man.

I don't hate them, just not in love with them either. People seem to go crazy over them.

Hey Jude, Let It Be.

Both brilliant songs, but very overplayed.

Underrated

Hey Bulldog, Oh! Darling, I'm Only Sleeping, Baby You're A Rich Man.

Just some of my favourite tracks that you don't hear a lot of credit for.

In the case of Yellow Submarine and especially Octopus's Garden, I think people are partially being ironic. Y'know, because RINGO!

"because RINGO!" I love how no further explanation is needed aha, everyone just knows. a-hard-days-night-ringo-14 Poor Ringo!

I find that friends of mine who aren't Beatles fans and who can maybe name about 10-15 songs always seem to mention one of the two, I think I was basing it more on that. a-hard-days-night-ringo-9
