One of the few good ideas Capitol had during The Beatles' years was releasing Yesterday as a single, but that was probably only because they had mangled the British 'Help!' album when putting together the U.S. version.

What other LP tracks do you think would have made great A-side singles?

The first one that comes into my head is 'A Day In The Life'. A classic, I think it deserves to be a single.

It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love. It matters only that you love. - John Lennon

There may be a thread on this already, but if not, it's a good one:

(Note: some songs were released as singles in one part of the world but not another)
All My Loving

And I Love Her

[Nowhere Man]

Taxman

While My Guitar ….

If I Fell

Drive My Car

Back in the USSR

Birthday

Michelle

In My Life

With A Little Help…

Across the Universe (actually, no; great song, but would not have been a great single)

Here there and everywhere

I don't think A Day in the Life would have been successful as a single.

Agree with ITSWD that ADITL wouldnt have been and there is a thread which is very similar: 'What album songs or B-sides would have been hits if released as a single?'

"Well, probably we'll sell less records, less people'll go to see the film, we'll write less songs, and we'll all die of failure" (John Lennon 8/64)

He would know – after all, he started that thread last year!

I am locking this thread in favor of the one we already have. It is still a great topic, Wildcat.apple01
