Is it the true that the unedited/extended version of I Am The Walrus with extra stroke before "Yellow Matter Custard" part wasn't released anywhere?

First I've heard of it. Where did you hear/read about that?

(BTW, hi!)

I think John just comes in too early on the Anthology version if that's what you're talking about. On wikipedia it says there is a version with an extra bar, but it's not in Joe's article and he's the most reliable source out there. Could be a myth, who knows?

I have listened to the Rarities version of I Am The Walrus, it contains the extra 2 beats at the beginning and the extra bar before yellow matter custard but without John's flubbed vocals.

Anthology 2 has the extra bar – it's the only official version I'm aware of that has it. Lennon starts to sing in it but stops.

He also plays a different chord on the electric piano, suggesting that the extra bar was intentional but they later edited it out. It can be heard on the alternative takes from the session too (several can be heard on YouTube).

I'm sure I once heard that the strings were scored for this bar too – did someone once post a clip here? I did a search but couldn't find it.

Did I do something to annoy you, Joe? I was just asking a question.

Not especially, but I'm trying to do some writing so I'm a bit distracted. I don't have time to discuss variations in different mixes for I Am The Walrus right now.
