I'm so jealous of people who can performe their favorite songs. If you post videos of Hey Jude with harmonica, please share them!!
Break a leg in your event!
Thanks for the support,i'll probably practice for the event today.
I found this video on you Tube
someone is performing the whole song, the strange part is that none of the videos i've seen they perform the na-na-na hey jude part, which is the only one i've been planning to do.
(I wonder what John would think about harmonica in hey Jude)
OH! i forgot to ask my teacher about organ in "Let it be"
Cool! Let us know how it turns out!
Today, we were sitting by the pool and there was a guitar player all set up out there. I started talking to him during a break and he asked me to come sing! We did Take it Easy (Eagles) and Let it Be. I felt like I still had my problem, but there was so much echo on the microphone I couldn't tell by listening. It was strange. Maybe my nervous reaction will go away after some more experience.

Yes it was quite a bit easier with a little help from my friends! I have a problem with heart rate when I perform solo. It's like everything slows down, but my heart's going like a jackhammer. I don't feel nervous mentally, but that's my physiological reaction to going up there like that. It does not make for good performances. Any suggestions on that one?
Hey Jude on harmonica… If it feels good, do it! Well, if it sounds good. Has it been done before?
My suggestion is that maybe before you go you can lie on your back and breath real heavy(and you have to concentrate real hard on it) with your eyes closed because when they had people come to the day care I went to when I was little to teach us about dealing with anxiety that's what we had to do. People will probably look at you funny, but it supposedley helps. Not just with anxiety though, it's also for calming down.
When I perform in front of a group of people(except if it's my family) just myself, before it I get a bit shaky sometimes but after I start it goes away!

OfflineOh right! Thank you. I sometimes use that for my sporting competitions but I forgot about it in this case. Sort of like yoga breathing.
Normally when I do perform, it's only one or two songs. So that's an interesting thought, maybe if I perform a bit longer I'll calm down. And maybe eventually it won't take me so long!

OfflineFor me, it's because I have a quick mind, I get nervous at most things. And yet, I am always successful when I'm most nervous.

OfflineWhat do you mean that you have a quick mind? Like you get racing thoughts, because I believe that's a bad thing, unless your high, then it's normal. You should find out what makes you most nervous and expose it to yourself all day so you'll always be successful!!!!
*9*John agrees with me!

You get nervous at most things? Do you have anxiety, because I think that you should check yourself into an anxiety program so you're not as nervous of everything! My friend had to go to one and she said it was a real drag, but maybe you'll be nervous about going and be successful at it!
Daniel love Trix bunny. Kids mean to bunny. They no give bunny cereal.

That's great i have always thought that it's harder to sing than to play an instrument.
About the practice it was a bit confusing, at first the classroom wasn't the one i was expecting and when i arrived to the classroom everything very different to the last class and none of my classmates, but it was ok the problem was that we had to practice and leave at 6:00 Pm which we couldn't do so the last 30 minutes i only asked myself when to leave.I also had to change from piano to any other instrument from the keyboard, i decided on organ and electric piano(finally i got to play organ on let it be).
Everyone here is very supporting and seem to want to know more about the event, maybe everyone here would like to know the songs we will play?.

OfflineWell, when I made my ex-wife a "special" CD I learned to play "For no one" – complete with solo on the trumpet! (Other songs included "I am a rock", "I'm so happy I can't stop crying" and "April come she will". Nice CD! I keep listening to it…)
On a happier note I learned to sing "All you need is love" for – surprise! – a wedding. There's a film – "Love Actually" – where the couple is surprised in the church by their friends playing "All you need is love": Organ starts, and then here and there, all over the audience, the soloists stand up and do their part on the saxophone, trumpet or whatever. Here's the clip from the movie:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..TNZgwZsrq0
The people at "my" wedding came really close: Organ started, a string quartet played the tune and then I started singing. A sax-player and a clarinet-player were in the audience, doing the "dabadabada", and an electric guitarist did the guitar solo.
It sounded really good, imo, only that the couple didn't excactly know what to do, being told to "just keep walking" – and they wouldn't stop even in front of me (I was coming towards the altar from the back), so I had to tell them "You can stop now!" very quickly!
It also wasn't as impressive as in the movie since the church was not completely filled. Still a very nice occasion!
Btw, when I played another gig someone asked me to play "Yesterday" for his friend who was to get married.
I guess it was intended as a romantic hommage, but while I sang it I realized how funny the lyrics sounded in this context – as if all the joy in his life ended now ("Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be, there's a shadow hanging over me"), so I broke out laughing several times during the song… But this does'nt belong here, sorry for that!

Thanks for the interest, also concerning the event maybe i'll get a diploma, my school is giving diplomas to students that will pass from level one to level 2, i'm not sure if i'm going to get one because while i'm in what i call the advanced class i am the student with less time than any other of my classmates, almost 4 months and 8 in total.
So with the event i'm pretty sure it will go like this
He's a pirate (Pirates of the caribbean soundtrack), this is our opening song
With or Without you (U2)
21 Guns (Greenday)
Let it be (

)
Soleado (Instrumental)
Zombie (The Cranberries)
And…..
Hey Jude (

), which will be our closing song
Also there is supossed to be music from another genre, i'm not sure if it's what is called banda o norteña(both a genre, or something like that), i'm not supossed to play on that one, the istrumentation is only an accordion, guitar and drums.
I can't remember if i mentioned this before, but we'll go dressed as pirates.
More on topic, not so much of a beatles song more a solo beatles cover, i'm planning on presenting "Stand by me" for friday.

LOL!! Still, nothing beats the newlyweds who danced U2's One in a lot of wedding I attended in the 90s. I was laughing because I was sure they had no idea what the song is actually about.
I love the idea of walking down the aisle with All you need is Love tune but in a quieter version.

Isn't one about the difficulty of maintining a relationship?, i just read about it or what is it about?
Mithveaen forgot to congratulate you on being a moderator and also Zig.
Apparently we'll also play the song "Smooth" by Santana for the event.
I just got an idea for a new thread, you can ask anything about a song you want to learn (notes, etc) and maybe someone will answer, does everyone here think it's a good idea?.

OfflineOh i'm sorry, i forgot to tell you how the event went,it was great and got great reviews from my teachers.
Most of us dressed as pirates, and everyone was great, the only problem were the violins most of them were not playing on time/missing the notes, i really didn't notice it until my parents told me( i was so concentrated on my playing),the songs we played are the same i had said before, except 21 guys, in exchange we played one of the other songs, which most of the ones at my side asked me for the chords(even a teacher), and "Smooth" was more of a sound test than an actual performance.
Now concerning the harmonica i didn't get to play it,but i feel i should play it the next event.
I brought the harmonica for the event, not with any actual plans of playing just in case while o waited to seat near the keyboard my mother saw my harmonica and asked me if i was going to play it, i answered i wasn't,but it started to look as a great idea, then when everybody else arrived, waiting i got bored and started cleaning my harmonica, and then one of my classmates asked me if i was going to play it(and asked while doing a harmonica sign, holding something and moving the mouth, great gesture), i explained that because i didn't ask one of the teachers to do it or practiced the song with him i might break the order(i can't remember the exact words),and then the teacher beside me asked me(or were those the chords of the song?).
Anyway right now i want to play harmonica the next event,so the next time we will probably do 70's songs, i hope we get "I me mine".
Right now we are learning these songs, but no plans to actually do these in a concert that i know
Coldplay-Viva la vida
The-Cure Just like heaven
Gloria-The doors(original artist:Them), i have plans to play organ and harmonica in this one, even to play second position harmonica or blues harmonica, the weird part is that he did the lyrics for 'Love me two times: instead of gloria.
Break on through(to the other side)-doors, i'm going to play organ and also learnt the solo
Also one friday the teacher gave us the idea of performing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, quite difficult,he had tried it once but the group could not perform it.
*16* Ringo suppports my harmonica playing!

OfflineMy first experience of the song "Yesterday" was my Granddad trying to teach it to our lodger. She was a Chinese English teacher (I mean, she was Chinese and taught English) who was studying at the University of Reading, and they were learning Yesterday so that they got a flavour of our culture or something. He didn't extend the notes on "easy", "to" or "play" and generally rushed it a bit, so I think he'd forgotten what the song actually sounds like.

Well music is a part of culture so it makes sense, but great song, mentioning "Yesterday" the pianist in the restaurant where i like to go learnt that song and usually plays it after we get in.
Also in the event i really got a diploma, from level 2 to 3, the problem is that my name is mispelled
(isn't it a pity?), but i didn't want to bother the teacher.
