Hey, her avatar's gone too! (Or maybe that's what Another One meant originally?)

Its Only Love and Every Little Thing could be twins in my opinion. And The Long And Winding Road and This Boy work when played together (but then i have a very strong heartfor the  Love Songs lp)

I'm here.

I wish I were studying for getting my PhD. It's just a master's degree but it is very demanding. And yes, my avatar is gone because I'm changing my website hosting provider. So George in Sitarday will be back soon. Thanks for missing me. heart

Any Time At All and All I´ve Gotta Do are similar to me. Just because of the lyrics.

Thanks to the Love album, I always sing ''bepp-beep beep-beep yeah'' after ''the word, love'' and it´s because of that that I´ve realised that these two songs are similar although they´re not the same in terms of the meaning.

It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love. It matters only that you love. - John Lennon

When I listen to all beatles songs I really love when there is at first a real hard rock song like helter skelter and then a ballad like golden slumbers. I'm always in a quite agressive mood after listening to a song like helter skelter and then songs like gooden slumbers cool me down again. I love that

Okay, I just got here & read a few of the recent pairings. Here's my opinion:

Its Only Love and Every Little Thing Meanmistermustard

No, it doesn't work for me.

"Things We Said Today" — "You Can't Do That."   Meanmrsmustard

That one's a joke, right? Harruuummph

However, most excellent call on "When I Get Home."

I disagree. I love When I Get Home. It feels like the perfect bridge.  Mr. Sun king coming together

No sir, you are wrong.

But the "If I Fell – I'm Happy Just To Dance With You – And I Love Her" trilogy is inspired – the 'Something New' LP is the first Beatles album I was ever exposed to, when it was only a year old, and those first 4 songs on side Two are one of the rare instances where Capitol got it right. Tell Me Why, followed by the other three, is fantastic the way it starts out w/ the three of them harmonizing on that classic and (I think) underrated tune, followed by their own (kind of) separate spots, w/ George, John, and Paul's. Then you run to the turntable to lift the needle before they start singing in German. Aaah, good memories… and 3 less songs per album than the British releases..

Any Time At All and All I´ve Gotta Do   fabfouremily

Excellent observation, very good. The segue from the first to the next would be awesome to hear on a radio station sometime.

And SO right about the 'Love' matchups – I really, truly love just about every one of them, Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows just kills me. But it can distort a few iconic memories of songs. Even so, I wish Giles would do a sequel!

paul-mccartney Don't be angry, I was only joking, guys!

If we're talking about similar-sounding songs, you could go with You Know What To Do and You Like Me Too Much.. I'm also thinking of What You're Doing and I'll Cry Instead off the top of my head.

Double-posting, but I have a couple.

Not Guilty and Glass Onion. They would have gone together perfectly.

Act Naturally and If You've Got Trouble because they are both Helpesque and both Ringo.

This morning, while listening to a shuffled playlist, I heard John's "Watching The Wheels" followed by "She Said, She Said". The 2 songs have absolutley nothing in common, save for the singer. However, the closing "clip-clop" of the horse's hooves at the end of "WTW" went abruptly into the intro of "SS,SS" without a gap of time. It sounded completely awesome to me.

Give it a go and see if you agree.a-hard-days-night-john-7

Glad you agree!

I was lulled into a temporary little trance by the sound of the horse's hooves, when all of a sudden, the heavy guitar opening of "SS, SS" threw cold water in my face.

Not pairings but groupings:

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" / "I Am the Walrus" / "Cry, Baby, Cry" -- John's Lewis Carroll-inspired trilogy

"Helter Skelter" / "I've Got a Feeling" / "Oh! Darling" -- Paul's vocal-shredding trilogy

If we are listing groupings, try this one on for size…

I Call Your Name/You Can't Do That. More Cowbell!!!

Oh, and I know this isn't strictly Beatles, but it's close enough. And Your Bird Can Sing/Crush On You (Bruce Springsteen). My iPod brought me that gem this morning.

I tried to think of something powerful and moving… and failed.  "You were given a choice between war and dishonor - you chose dishonor, and you shall have war" - Winston Churchill

I like Long Tall Sally/Twist and Shout, incredible vocals by John and Paul.

I Will/Mother Nature's Son/Blackbird, love Paul's voice in these songs, and also his acoustic guitar.

And if we're including solo careers, I like Mother/Beautiful Boy. Makes me glad how much happier he was near the end of his life compared to the early 1970's!

And probably one of my favourites:

Band on the Run/Happiness is a Warm Gun, I find the format of these songs similar and shows the difference in style between Paul and John.

A shuffled playlist produced this gem of a pairing yesterday…

'Highway' by The Fireman / 'Helter Skelter' by The Beatles.

The outro to the first blended with the intro to the second in stunning fashion.
