On March 28, 1965, it is rumored that the Beatles mimed to “Eight Days A Week ,” “Ticket To Ride ,” and “Yes It Is ” on the television program “Thank Your Lucky Stars.”

Does anyone at all know of the existance of this footage or have this footage in their possession and is able to share it? I have been dying to see them “perform”  Eight Days A Week live.  This could be a great find!

There's a little bit of information on this page: https://www.beatlesbible.com/1…..ppearance/

I don't know of a copy in circulation. It's not mentioned in The Unreleased Beatles by Richie Unterberger, a book I recommend if you're interested in bootlegs.

Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon
Or buy my paperback/ebook! Riding So High – The Beatles and Drugs

Don't miss The Bowie Bible – now live!

I have two questions about Eight Days A Week (Complete) from Anthology.

1. Is it just me, or during “I ain’t got nothing but love, babe,” is there something an octave or two higher that is singing/playing the same melody as the main vocal?

2. What’s that weird noise during “Hold me, love me” (I think the second time that those lyrics are sung, but I’m not sure)? It sounds sort of like a trombone, or maybe a snoring elephant- a very, very quiet snoring elephant…

Also known as Egg-Rock, Egg-Roll, E-George, Eggy, Ravioli, Eggroll Eggrolli...

1.  It’s overspill of the unused Mal Evans penny whistle solo.

2. It’s a quietly snoring elephant. A GH Martin idea. Borrowed one from around the corner at London Zoo (Regent’s Park). He is/ was a fellow of the Zoological Society  you know. The song was originally called Eight Tons a Week referring to the average amount of dung produced by an elephant per week. ‘Ooh I need your shovel, I think your wig glue sucks. Mucking out the rhinos, this toupee’s barely stuck.

A shiny Beatles badge to any who can spot the shoddy reporting in this article. http://www.mprnews.org/story/2…..3/24/music

Eight Days A Week ” was released on February 15 (the very day I joined the BB!), not March 24 as the article states. a-hard-days-night-paul-11

Do I get a badge now? a-hard-days-night-george-9

You’re in the ballpark, @Beatlebug, but no badge. March 24 was when it reached #1.

(I can say this because @Ahhh Girl showed me this, and I was the one who pointed out the flaw.)

I was gonna say “no way they had seven #1s in ’65!” Then I re-read it.

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

You were the one who pointed me to something to find, @Ahhh Girl. The type of question I love though, had to say why I wasn’t gonna be making any attempt to answer. Hope you don’t mind.

‘PIPH’NY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The article claims that they brought the song into the studio UNFINISHED. This is untrue, of course. They brought it into the studio with the BACKING unfinished. !!!!!!!!!!!

No ‘piph’ny, @Beatlebug. You were in the ballpark before, now you’re at the end of the queue for the car park.

Your observation was interesting, @vonbontee (good to have your non-capitalised self back!).

I don’t mind at all, @Ron Nasty. I should have stated that I passed the question by you in my original post.

If the answer isn’t revealed after a guess or two more, I’ll give a hint.

A shame? Hardly. Some poor intern, three days into his/her internship, was probably saddled with writing this schlock – hence the lack of a byline. I read the three paragraphs and am beyond caring. Wake me when the error is revealed. It’s most likely something incredibly trivial. Life is too fecking short.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Isn’t It A Pity , oh isn’t it a shame.

I’ve counted up the Beatles’ singles that went to number one in America during the time frame we are interested in, and I only found six: I Want To Hold Your Hand , She Loves You , Can’t Buy Me Love , A Hard Day’s Night , I Feel Fine , and Eight Days A Week

So, how many months would have to be in a year for the reporter’s statement

Eight Days A Week ” set a record, which still stands. It was the seventh song by the same artist to reach the top of the U.S. pop chart over the course of one year.

to be true?

I guess he can have that many months in a year if there can be eight days in a week a-hard-days-night-george-10

Actually, it’s something major in the article, @Zig.

@Beatlebug, you missed one:

1 February 1964 – I Want To Hold Your Hand
21 March 1964 – She Loves You
1 April 1964 – Can’t Buy Me Love
30 May 1964 – Love Me Do
1 August 1964 – A Hard Day’s Night
26 December 1964 – I Feel Fine
13 March 1965 – Eight Days A Week
