This is something that I've noticed for a very long time; maybe it's common knowledge in The Beatles community, but I thought I'd say something about it anyhow.

I'm quite sure that in the song Do You Want To Know a Secret, John is the one singing the line "I'm in love with you!… Ooh-ooh-oooooh", not George.

(To save time, skip to 0:33)

I may be wrong; but I'm not sure if George had that rough, rock'n'roll voice in him at the time of PPM. a-hard-days-night-george-5 Perhaps John offered to jump in and handle that line for him?

What are your thoughts on this? a-hard-days-night-george-6

it's George, IMO

Check out the link at the top of this thread, it has the multi tracks created for the Beatles Rock band which allows for isolated vocals, which show it is John

So… do we have a consensus then? I always thought it was George, but you have a point there, Sitar Soul.

I'm 100% sure it's George. Check this. It sounds like the original recording.

To me, in that recording, it is undoubtedly George. But it doesn't sound -quite- like the original. a-hard-days-night-ringo-7
I still think it might be John.

I've always thought that "I'm in love with you-u" (especially that raspy "I") sounded vaguely like John too, and I've been listening for a coupla decades longer than Sitar Soul! But I've always considered that entire debut album to be a real anomaly - the album with seemingly the least Beatle-like singing throughout. Even though, logically, their debut is by definition their MOST Beatle-ish.

While some people don't give a damn about my opinion I'm definitely sure it's just George. No discussion.

I second, third and fourth that - NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I don't care if it was John, Paul, George, Ringo, Mick Jagger, Kermit the Frog or Winston Churchill.

The instrument has yet to be invented that can measure how much I don't care.

Is it possible to care less than nothing? If so I care ten times nothing.

This is not a slam against this thread for it is a legitimate question. I just don't want to go through another debacle like ADitL: John v. Paul. That was just too painful and ridiculous.

It is to painful Zig. The thread had a resurgence in your absence.

I think its George. Although it sounds like John, George's voice could sound like that as well as there's no point in switching out lead vocals for one line. idk maybe it is john but I'm still convinced that its Georgie

I agree that it does sound like John, but I'm sure it's George.

From Anthology:

'Do You Want To Know A Secret' was 'my song' on the album. I didn't
like my vocal on it. I didn't know how to sing; nobody told me how to
sing
: 'Listen, do da do, Do you want to know a secret? do da do. Do you
promise not to tell…'

I suspect George was mimicking the style he'd heard the others use, before he found a voice of his own.

Please don't spoil my day; I'm miles away

No apology needed – as I said it was a very legitimate question. I was just laughing about another thread that is similar to this one and got way out of hand.
