From "The Word"

If you say and share love, you will be free. So, you need to have an active role in relation to it to gain the most benefit from it. Spread love.

It is so fine. It is sunshine. It is good.

It is a theme written about in good and bad books.

"Everywhere I go I hear it said", thus it is a word you hear often and probably in many contexts.

Once you understand it and feel it, you should share that enlightenment with others.

I was coming here to write that!

It is real, love that is.

If I spoke prose you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about.

From "That Means a Lot"

When someone says they love you, it means a lot.

Love can be deep inside
Love can be suicide
Can't you see you can't hide
What you feel when it's real?

When it is real, you can't hide how you feel. I conjecture that you show your feelings to the one you love and your feelings of love for that person to the others you come in contact with.

So, if it can be deep inside, can it also be shallow in some circumstances?

If it can be suicide, can it also be life giving in some circumstances? I know one of our newer members is dealing with this pain of un-returned love being mental and emotional suicide for him. I truly hope he gets the help he needs to make it through this rough patch in his life.

You should also love (your partner) while you can, before they're a dead old man.*

*Some "Love You To" lyric sheets list this line as "… before I get a plan." So, to be on the safe side, follow both avenues of advice.

Who hears "… before I get a plan."? One lyric site has a similiar lyric of "or i'll get a plan".

Seems to be like those who hear John sing ". . . who put all those things in your hair" in She Said, She Said.

Love appears to be no big deal - It's constantly shining all around you, everywhere, not seven but Eight Days A Week. I mean, It's Only Love. And that is all.

It has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight.

It sleeps while a guitar gently weeps.

There is no sign of it behind tears cried for no 0ne.

How much of it you take is equal to how much of it you make.

It don't give no presents.

@acmac in case you missed the announcement on the "forum changes" thread, the linking thing is a new feature Joe added recently. Skim through the last few pages of that thread for more information about the feature.

For me it is something in the way she moves, something in the way she woos me, somewhere in her smile, something in her style, something in the way she knows and something in the things she shows me. I don't want to leave her now, in less than two weeks from now...I will have been married to her for 30 years.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8Congratulations on 30 years, Zig! two-virgins (The only smiley of a couple, seemed apt.)

It's something you need to be Here, There And Everywhere. Something that makes each day of the year, if it's beside you you need never care. It's to share, it never dies. (This song is one big definition!)

This post is dedicated to the idea of love from the A Hard Day's Night Album. Some of the songs have been mentioned before in this thread. Some of the songs don't actually use the word "love", but the words can be used when thinking of the concept of love.

A Hard Day's Night: It keeps you up even when you know you should be sleeping. It is something worth going home for. It is manifested in actions that make you feel good. It is worth working for - to buy things for the one that you love.* You want to be alone with the one that you love. It helps everything feel right.

I Should Have Known Better: When you love someone, you love everything that they do. Kisses are better when you are in love with the person. It gives you confidence (or a real case of hope in predicting) that when you tell someone you love them they will reciprocate. You want the person you love to be yours. You want more of it.

If I Fell: (from my post that started this thread - Love involves trust and more than holding hands. When someone withdraws their love from you, it hurts your pride and causes pain.) If you express your love to someone you don't want them to run and hide. {I wonder if this is one of the seeds of You've Got To Hide Your Love Away.}

I'm Happy Just To Dance With You: Dancing with someone aids in the process of falling in love with someone. Another prediction: "Before this dance is through I think I'll love you too". The prediction comes true this time "I've discovered I'm in love with you / 'Cause I'm Happy Just To Dance With You." It seems as though the perfect dance partner makes the perfect partner for love.

And I Love Her: You give all of it to one person.** It becomes your all-consuming activity. It causes you to make yet another prediction "If you saw my love, you'd love her too." (Is he trying to make the other guy jealous?) Your lover reciprocates: "I give her all my love" / "She gives me everything". The kisses it brings are tender. As long as the person is near you, it won't die.

Tell Me Why: **When you give it all (love and material things) to one person, it can backfire and leave you very hurt with tears welling up in your eyes: "Well I gave you everything I had / But you left me sitting on my own". It makes you not be indifferent towards how the person treats you: "hang my head and moan". It makes you not give up easily to find out why it died; you will beg on bended knee to find out why your lover cried and lied to you. You will do anything to fix the problem if you can so that the person will love you again.

Can't Buy Me Love: *Someone buying material things for you doesn't show you that they love you; however, you are willing to by things for those you love "I'll give you all I've got to give" if that will make them say they love you too. {Which makes me think of this post by @Hey Jude !.}

Any Time At All: It makes you accessible to that person whenever they need you. It is shown through the eyes. It helps you sympathize with what is going on in the person's life. Again, it makes you give your ALL "There is nothing I won't do".

I'll Cry Instead: If you lose it, it hurts your pride (like in If I Fell) and you want to be mad and want to go see the girl and get revenge, but you just can't bring yourself to that point. Instead, you are sad (like in Tell Me Why) and you cry. But, alas, it make you make another prediction. The call of love is so strong that you know you will recover and get back in the saddle again; {however, it doesn't seem to me like he will really recover - she treated him badly and broke his heart so he is going to break the hearts of many other women - perhaps that is his displaced revenge. Perhaps this ends up being a not-so-nice definition of "love".}.

I will come back and edit this post to include the remaining four songs.
