OfflineCan't think of a better place to put this, so….
Just out of morbid curiosity, has anyone tried playing "A Day in the Life" around their dog to see if they hear the note that only dogs can hear? Don't ask me why this is on my mind.

OfflineThe first time that I can remember hearing "Only A Northern Song" was when I watched 'Yellow Submarine' for the first time. It was after midnight, I was the only person in the room, and I had just started feeling slightly creeped out by it and wondering why the song existed when "if you're listening late at night, you may think the band are not quite right…" came on. Not the most pleasant way to hear the song for the first time…

I thought about it, but there's no point in doing that since my dog is deaf.
Last week I was cycling home and I was listening to Blue Jay Way and all streetlights went out. Scariest. Thing. Ever.
And I never really paid attention to the lyrics of a Northern Song, but err..yeah..they are not happy or anything. Especially the last verse is kinda creepy.

If I play day in the life really loudly and strain my ears, I can just about hear that note My cats twitch there ears when they hear it though, As for only a northern song I also agree it is scary especially at the words 'its only theres no one there'
Strawberry fields I also find quite scary, not the main tune but that bit which comes at the end. I don't know why but that bit always really creeps me out.

Really? I can hear that note just fine. I have played it to my dog, but she didn't care. She's used to me making high-pitched noises at her, so I think now she just ignores them.

I can hear that note, but maybe my ears are different from most.
I find LOVE creepy. Well, not all of it, but certain things, like the guitar from Julia and then those noises, or the Blue Jay Way transition after Something, with the creepy Nowhere Man vocals and the carnival-ish noises (that's when the noises happen, right?).

I've never seen anything to confirm or deny this, but was that tone on the CD reissues the same frequency as on the original vinyl? It's clearly audible on both the original '87 CD and the remaster. And as a result, I've always wondered if (a) the tone on the original vinyl issues was REALLY inaudible to humans; or (b) if the CD reissues purposely used a lower-frequency (but still audible) tone to confirm that yes, a tone was indeed present?

THIS.
Especially the Being for the benefit of Mr Kite/I want you (she's so heavy)/ Helter Skelter one. It's supercreepy.

Record players can't play such high frequencies, so, while it is on the record, the record player doesn't pick it up.

OfflineWhat's the new Mary Jane is really creepy, I seldom play it when I am alone.
"When I was a robber *Piano Chord* in Boston Place"
"Let's hope this turns out pretty darn good huh"
"Pete may be the best, but Ringo is the star"
Paul:"Don't be nervous John"
John:"I 'm not"

OfflineI've never heard it in it's entirety, but I've often heard it's creepy so now I don't even dare to listen to it lol
Edit: Right after I typed that, I listened to it. Halfway through it gets reaaaally creepy. Why does this song even exist?
And is it just me or does George have to do something with nearly every creepy Beatles song?
Also, I didn't know John wanted to release You know my name with Mary Jane as a B side. Strangest combination ever!

I didn't know that either. I love You Know My Name (during Christmas I got the 7" for Let It Be and I have it hanging on a wall with the B-side of the sleeve facing out), but I never would have thought of that as a commercial release.

Oh yeah I completely forgot about that thread and I even replied in it! But that was not what I meant. I meant in general, because it's not only George's songs which are scary. He also helped making Revolution 9 for example.
@Parlance: Yeah I saw that on the section for What's The New Mary Jane in ''Songs''. They were planning to release it as Plastic Ono Band, apparently, but that couldn't happen.

Same here. I know what's coming so I kind of ''brace'' myself for it because it is a little scary.
I know I wouldn't like the song as much as I do if it didn't have that creepy ending though.

I thought it was a cash register.

I think George said in Anthology that there was a bottle on top of one of the speakers and when Paul hit a note on his bass the bottle started rattling.
