Just kidding. Most people thought it was "buried Paul" back when the Paul is Dead rumor was breaking news. I wasn't truly certain what John said until I heard all the "Strawberry Fields Forever" outtakes in the late 1980's. Then Mark Lewisohn's book told me why.

That's what I thought John was saying the first time I heard it — I thought it was some sort of ironic comment about being very bored by this Strawberry Fields place……

 

But if you listen to the unadorned version that's on ANTHOLOGY 2, it's very clear John is saying  "crrrrrran-berry sauce" (he says it twice)
