Worst: Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine, Help!
I like all of the album covers, but those last 3 are just a little weaker than all the rest.

Favorites: With the Beatles, A Hard Day's Night, Please Please Me, Beatles for Sale, Yellow Submarine
Hard to be pick least favorites. I know it's blasphemy, but I'm not a fan of most of their album covers beyond the above five. Help feels like they started doing semaphore, toked up, and forgot about it. I don't like the distortion or the font on Rubber Soul. The collages on Revolver disturb me. Magical Mystery Tour feels like a photo from a school play. Sgt. Pepper's just always looks like a chaotic, unappealing mess to me, and all parodies/homages only makes the memory of it even worse. Abbey Road has bearded John and bearded George, so I. just. can't.
Thank goodness I wasn't their art director. I would have been fired, lol.

By the way, I don't know if John knew this at the time, but the word "album" is, without having to alter any spelling, a Latin word that means literally "white" and specifically meant to modify some neuter noun. Latin like a lot of languages had three cases -- neuter, masculine and feminine, usually with -um, -us and -a endings, respectively. So here, it would be album/albus/alba. The adjective "album" probably became a noun (like a book or album of pages or photographs for example) to denote a "blank" notebook or journal ("blank" also meaning "white" originally).
Most English words derived from Latin have altered the spelling, but a few retain the original -- like "album" or "magnum" or "tractor" or "doctor" or "agenda" or "item", etc.)

Can only really think of various artists covers. NME put together a great cover of Sgt. Pepper in 1988 called Sgt. Pepper Knew My Father. It gave Billy Bragg his only Number One, on the back of Wet Wet Wet. Mojo and Uncut Magazines has put together some great exclusively recorded various artists Beatles albums, including things like The White Album, Revolver and Abbey Road. Booker T and the MGs did a great job with their mainly instrumental McLemore Avenue (though doesn't really follow the tracklisting and doesn't include everything). The worst I've ever heard was Laibach's 1988 take on Let It Be – which they didn't even bother to include the title track.
EDIT: Oh, crap! Just looked above. Got this "Best/Worst Album Covers" thing all wrong. Sorry!

I used to follow Latin at school, but I didn't know this! It's certainly interesting and funny.

I forgot to mention Linde, that the title "the White Album" would be redundant! It's like saying "the White White thing" -- at least from the standpoint of the Latin meaning.
