Paul is a wonderful tunesmith, and possibly the best Melody-maker. But damn some of his songs grate after a time.

When I tell people about my Beatles obsession, they'll ask me what my favorite song is, and I'll reply Hey Jude, A Day in the Life, Penny Lane, Girl, Lovely Rita, and maybe a few others, but surprise, surprise: Hey Jude is the only one they've ever heard of. Their favorite is usually Let it Be, maybe All You Need is Love. And most of the time, as you said, they only know the chorus, which only consistists of five words.

Especially that final harmonized "wri-i-i-ter!" Did they really have to sing it so HIGH? I'm not even sure who's singing that top note.
