I had the misfortune to hear Bad Company doing Shooting Star recently. The lyrics are awful and it goes on for years.

Jesus loves you more than you will know
We all know it's really goo goo goo joob, but let's face it – Simon/Garfunkel is no Lennon/McCartney.

OfflineWeird, I can't think of any reference of the Beatles in rock in Spanish. The only that comes to my mind is He visto a Lucy (I've seen Lucy) by Gustavo Cerati. He says he's talking about Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. It's a good song.
I think I've already mentioned this, sorry if I'm repeating myself.

"Rocking out in the to the Beatles Back in the USSR."
I think thats how it went or something along the lines of that.
ALSO! The new Ke$ha video is completly yellow submarine insipered. (Sorry if this is a little of topic.)

OfflineThis is not exactly on point but what I always found interesting was how the Beatles could mention themselves in their own songs and it always seemed so natural – like Glass Onion – to just say the Walrus and me – the Walrus was Paul or the Fool on the Hill – just so matter of fact. I think for a lot of bands mentioning themselves that way would seem forced or awkward.
Just a thought - that they even mentioned themselves in their own songs.

I like how "Lucy In The Sky" shows up in "Walrus", which itself shows up in "Glass Onion"
The very first four words on Swamp Dogg's "Total Destruction To Your Mind" are "Sitting on a cornflake"

While listening to an oldies station, the song" Don't Call Us" by Sugar Loaf came on and I was singing along, of course, and got to the line It sounds like ah John, Paul and George…. (almost all of the Beatles)
And did you ever notice the "I Feel Fine" riff in that song's chorus?
And speaking of riffs, the "Day Tripper" riff appears in both Roxy Music's "Remake/Remodel" and April Wine's "I Like To Rock"

OfflineThe Rutles?! You mean the Pre-Fab Four? Dirk, Nasty, Stig and Barry? I was actually playing "Piggy In The Middle" not two weeks ago!
I'm as big a Monty Python fanatic as Beatles obsessive, so my Rutles-appreciation is assured. I remember seeing their album in the $3.99 rack in a Woolworths back in the early '80s, with all the parody album covers on the front, and thinking "What the hell is this?"

OfflineMy brother was just playing loud music (as he always does) and I heard these lyrics:
After all this is gone who would you rather be,
The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
then, a few lines after that:
Come on baby, play me something,
like Here Comes The Sun
The lyrics are from 'Gimme Sympathy' by Metric. It was actually an alright song, not as bad as some of the other stuff he plays

Now, there's an album I haven't heard in a long time. I wore out the vinyl and haven't replaced it yet. Thanks for reminding me, mr S. It is a great album.
BOT: From the song 1977 also by The Clash – "No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones…"

OfflineI have to put my "eurovision" contribution in here and mention a song by 60's Italian pop star Gianni Morandi (a kind of Italian Cliff Richard) who did "C'era un ragazzo" which goes:
"C'era un ragazzo, che come me
amava i Beatles e i Rolling Stones.."
translated:
There was a young guy, who just like me
loved The beatles and the Rolling Stones"
it's basically an anti-Vietnam war song. Just some ordinary kid who loves that music and that is taken off to war ..and is killed.
