But you're not really missing out because that version was pretty awful anyways. All I can remember were tons of trumpets and saxophones turning the song from something sad and beautiful into something really cheesy. 

And it wasn't in public, but one of my teachers was playing an instrumental jazz covers album and one of the songs was "A Day in the Life". What a bizarre experience that was....

Some bookstore or something, but it was really cool and very organ dominated, which is my favorite instrument so I liked it a lot. I really enjoy most elevator music, it adds to the atmosphere of wherever you are at. I think music should be played at all times, and the best way to do that is with background elevator music.
