I was talking with some pals from beattales.com (a music-movies Mexican board) and I was doing a short article about Taxman for them, and one of my friends over there told me that Ritchie's theme from Batman TV Show was an inspiration for Taxman.

check the bass in this one, the song starts at 2.33.

And now check this.

What do you think guys??

I can't say for sure about the bass parts, but if you listen to the Batman theme above, I'm pretty sure that's Yoko on vocals!

The beginning of the second part really reminds me of 12-Bar Original.

A bit of Googling reveals George Martin's claim that "Taxman" was indeed partly inspired by "Batman", apparently one of George H.'s favourite programs. But I don't think the two bass parts had much to do with one another, really. They're subtly different – the basic notes are similar (it's a standard blues lick) but Paul's are more syncopated and distinctive. Plus I don't know if the Beatles would even have heard that Marketts's cover, or any version other than the actual TV theme itself.

They do have similarities, but those Batman songs are pretty awesome. A wild organ is always nice.

No, they are not the same bass line. What is similar is the brass accent.

I play bass, they are not the same.

The Batman bass line can be heard on about a million rock and roll song songs.

Really, the only real similarity between the songs is the title

As for the similarity in sound, mith, I hear what you are talking about. But Taxman was recorded in April 1966 and the Batman Theme  was released shortly after. Plus, as Von pointed out, the version above is a cover of the original which puts it much later in 1966.

The possibility of one inspiring the other is possible but not very likely.neil-aspinall

The original record was released in January 1966, Giving the possibility it was the inspiration. Possible, but don't bet the Mortgage
