OK, the topic title sounded better in my head. a-hard-days-night-paul-1

I'm pretty sure everyone's heard a band/artist whose songs all sounded exactly the same. If you've heard one of their songs, you've heard them all.

I was wondering (OK, worrying) if there were any Beatles songs that sounded really similar to others. I can't really think of any off the top of my head, because it's 5:30 AM, my time.

You can also post songs that sound similar to songs by other groups/artists (OK, I'm just going to say "musicians" from now on) that aren't actually covers of the songs by other musicians. My example is "I'm Down" and "Good Golly, Miss Molly."

OK, rant/ramble over. You can either respond or ignore me.

If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Well, She Loves You and Sie Liebt Dich sound pretty similar to me. And have you heard I Want To Hold Your Hand next to Komm Gib Mir Dein Hand? Think about it!

*cough*

There aren't any that I can think of at the moment…

Oh, ha ha. Let me go check iTunes….

EDIT: There's a bit in "Till There Was You" (A little guitar thing near the end) that reminds me of "Every day, we'll be happy, I know" from "It Won't Be Long." Could that be any more vague?

That's one of the things I love about The Beatles and that lifts them over ANY other band: they (almost) never did the same thing twice or followed any successful formula just to have more success with it.

Anyway, "This boy" and "Yes it is" are rare examples of two songs sounding really similar. I forgot which one was first, but the other one was a try to re-write the first one.

I always found the "uuuu/aaaa-lalalas" in "You won't see me" and "Nowhere man" too similar to like them both. One of the very few repetitiv moments in the Beatles' catalogue, imo.

I always get confused when humming "You can't do that" and "When I get home". Very similar groove and style and melody.

When you listen to "Live at the BBC" you'll notice that they "recycled" many guitar solos from some oldies and put them into their own songs. I'm not sure if that fits in here, though…

I find "I'm down" more similar to "Long tall Sally".

"Goodday sunshine" was inspired by "Daydream", and while it's faster the first chords in the verse even follow the "originals'" progression.

Ok, the Beach Boys and Chuck Berry references in "Back in the USSR" are obvious.

John's quiet songs on the White Album sound a bit similar since he uses the same picking (Dear Prudence, Julia, Happiness is a warm gun). All totally different, though.

"And I love her" was obviously a try to write his own "Til there was you". Well done!

I actually was thinking about putting "This Boy" and "Yes it Is" in the original post, but for some reason I shot it down.

You can add Look at Me from Plastic Ono Band to this list. I always thought the guitar in that song was very similar to the guitar in Julia.

I find The Anthology 3 version of WMGGW similar to an early Beatles song, but I can`t place what song

Evan – could it be Do You Want to Know a Secret?

And thanks for the welcome back, M3. I was having a great time with Christmas and am now enjoying a few days off work.

I guess, they are both Vaudevillian in a way.

The lyrics are similar, I think

If you listen closely to the electric version, I think there's someone playing a kazoo that got buried in the mix.

In all seriousness, I think bits of I Want You sound similar to Because.

Well, the beginning of All You Need is Love is very similar to the French national anthem.  Also, it sounds similar to Greensleeves at the end.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

And there's a bit from "The Prince of Denmark" at the end of "It's All Too Much."
