I’ve been listening to Plastic Beetle, one of McCartney’s Mashups, and I’m trying to find out where “Ok, Paul, you ready boy, this is it,” or whatever Lennon says is from. I know it’s from some of the Think For Yourself rehearsals but where? Could somebody give me a link and time slot? Or if it’s not, point me to the source? Thank you!

Afraid I think you’ve misunderstood @kpmlsp1’s question, @Ahhh Girl. They’re not asking where the phrase appears in Plastic Beatle – but where it appears in the rehearsal recording of Think For Yourself . I listened through to the nearly twenty minutes of the rehearsal that has been booted (twice), and I can’t hear it anywhere:

While it may indeed come from the TFY session, to my ears it does not seem to come from the available rehearsal recording unless I’m missing it.

Perhaps @Joe has some more information on its attribution to the TFY session.

In ‘Way Beyond Compare’ John C Winn attributes the excerpt used in ‘Plastic Beetle” coming from the sale reel that was booted. And a site with a breakdown of the track and sources.

Isn’t the sale reel that was booted the source of the two part YT that I’ve posted above though, @meanmistermustard? Does that mean there’s a longer version of it that’s been booted that I haven’t got, or that the twenty minutes that are available aren’t the whole thing?

The above is the only TFY rehearsal tape I know of that’s been booted, and I’ve listened to it intently twice through headphones today, and I can’t find anything in it close to what John’s saying.

Yip. Same source reel. Winn could be wrong but but it wouldnt be the first time that bootleggers held back material at the time that we still havent heard to this day. As far as i can remember what was released was in two parts on two different bootlegs with some of the material overlapping on both.

Sorry, it’s a long time since I wrote that Plastic Beetle article and I can’t remember where the info came from! I’m sure I found it on another site, rather than going through a whole load of outtakes.
