Hey all - if anyone comes across this on sale at any sort of sensible price would love a PM and a link (not the dodgy 2-in-1 Russian reprint where they can't even spell Boogaloo thanks).

It is the only 'Beatley' LP I once owned which I don't now have on CD.

Well - I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net - sigh.

My next request for help - can anyone find a way I can legally get this on .mp3 here in Oz?  Yes, I know I called .mp3s !%$#%! but I'm willing to make an exception this once and burn a cd and print the inserts etc. - but no one I have found so far will sell it to me.  Amazon etc. only work on a US credit card, iTunes down here don't have it listed.  This digital rights zonal stuff is so annoying - it would be different if anyone here sold it, but if they do, I haven't found them yet.

Cheers MMM - just a bit too much for me - I could manage up to about $40 as it is the last one I had on LP etc. etc.

I might try contacting whoever owns the rights down here (if I can find them) and see if they have any .mp3 distributor locally.  The problem of course is that after its poor reception on LP there are probably only 5 people who have it on CD.

In the meantime YouTube and file converters and some .jpg files have been very accommodating - say no more!

[EDIT]  And now I just need one of those cheap magnifying glasses you get in Christmas Crackers to complete the packaging.  The first run of the LP (which I used to have) came with a replica magnifying glass like the one Rings has on the cover.

erm, did I just say more? ....

One song on Ringo's 1976 album Rotogravure is called "You Don't Know Me At All", and when I looked up the lyrics, I note that it was written by "Jordan".  It's a great song -- but who the bloody 'ell is "Jordan"?  When I tried to find a "Jordan" on YouTube doing the song which he (or she) is supposed to have written, I couldn't come up with anything...

Does anyone else know?

This amused me!

Actually, though, according to wikipedia, it's one Dave Jordan. Whoever that is.

Indian music can't be listened to the same way you hear rock and roll. You cannot do 'Yea Yea' and 'Go Man Go' - Ravi Shankar

Two tracks from this are on that 'Photograph: Best of' album; 'A Dose of Rock and Roll' and 'Hey Baby'. I do wish this was given an official re-release.

@Pineapple Records @vonbontee @Von Bontee

Dave Jordan, born in 1943, was a singer-songwriter from New Zealand. He released his first album, Seasons, in 1968. Pete Seeger would cover the title song, and Jordan would win two Silver Scrolls (the equivalent of an Ivor Novello Award, I think) — one in 1968, and one in 1969.

In 1970 he flew to London to try his luck. He became an in-house writer-producer at Chappell Music. He would write songs for Roger Whittaker, Sasha Distel, Demis Roussos and, of course, Ringo, and also produced several albums for other artists. In the mid-Seventies he released a second album, Away from Home, but didn't really see much success.

In 1984 he returned to NZ with his Brazilian wife and son, where he got a job writing and producing TV and radio ads. In 1996 he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, followed by his marriage breaking up shortly afterwards. Supported by old friends in his last years (which included a old friend from his university days buying him a flat near her and her husband's home, and becoming his carer for the rest of his life), he died in 2004 from pneumonia at the age of 61.

An example of his work, from 1974-75, can be found beneath the spoiler (the song, Street Corner Music, begins at approx. 1:15).

Thanks Ron Nasty.  That Dave Jordan song isn't bad.  I tried to find his version of "You Don't Know Me At All" but maybe he never recorded his own version?  I just wonder if the interesting chord changes in Ringo's version were in the original, or did Ringo add some twists?
