I’m actually seeing Ringo in Nashville on his birthday. Not nearly as exciting as Paul, but I’m still pretty excited.

Ah, the Fabulous Fox Theatre…in Atlanta, GA, got it. Wondered what the hell “inGa” was!

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8I kept reading “inGa” as some kind of foreign name; consequently, I couldn’t help but picture a busty German woman in Dutch braids and a dirndl… a-hard-days-night-ringo-12

Ringo toured in Australia a few months ago – for various reasons I didn’t go. I’m now regretting not making it happen but one of the things that influenced me was the so-so reviews he got.  So I’m wondering what are Ringo’s performances like these days? Apart from the thrill of seeing a real live Beatle, is it worth getting to one of his concerts?a-hard-days-night-ringo-4

I thought it was great without being fantastic in Glasgow probably because of his All-Starr Band, they’re a great set of musicians and folks will tell you their worth but i’m not a fan of them tho I did know how the show works: a couple of Ringo tracks followed by a member of the band then back to Ringo. He does have a great rapport with the audience and I loved his music. It did peeve me off that Ringo walked off towards the end of the last number and didn’t come back out again, leaving everyone else on stage to get the applause.

Don’t regret a second of going, its Ringo!!!!!!!, the only chance i’ll ever get as he is nearly never in Scotland. I will probably be in the minority but i’d love to have a full Ringo concert, he doesn’t have the wealth of material to pull from as Paul does but he has enough to do a 90 minute concert. I suppose that will bore him which is fair enough.

I know I would go just to see him but the reviews I’ve read haven’t been all that positive – from the music point of view and because of him doing things like that ^ – but maybe just the once, I don’t know if I’d spend that much money on tickets every year (if I had the chance to).

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

I would like to see it. I mean, how can’t you love Ringo? I don’t think it will be a high-tech show but it’s just great music and to see an ex-Beatle live would already be quite an experience. It would depend on the All-Starrs though. I would like it a lot less if I wouldn’t know a lot of their own songs.

I’ve just read a few reviews and most of them are quite positive. It also depends a bit on the All Starr band of course.

I think you just must not expect anything grande and just have fun. It’s not a Paul McCartney show for example. I just saw a quote on one of the reviews and of course I can’t really say anything, but from what I’ve read and seen, I think this pretty much says it all:

”49 years later Ringo Starr wasn’t making history, but he did make an arena full of fans very happy.”

No hi-techs at all, it was a very simple set-up but it didn’t matter. I think tickets were £80 (I have mine upstairs) but cost didn’t come into it as it didn’t with Paul. Its a friggin’ Beatle and I hate not being able to have ever seen The Beatles, John or George live so there was no way I was going to miss him. I might moan about a few things here and there but I got to see Ringo in person so will never regret it. I booked tickets about 10 minutes after they had gone on sale missing about 25 minutes of a college class.a-hard-days-night-ringo-6

I actually enjoyed Ringo live more than the Rolling Stones.a-hard-days-night-ringo-10

I knew little of the All-Starr Band beforehand, the only songs I did I really don’t like (Broken Wings, Kyrie) so used one for a breather. The others were either pleasant enough or I tuned out except for Edgar Winter’s Frankenstein which I really enjoyed (never heard of him before).

Glasgow setlist.

^^ Isn’t setlist.fm the best? I definitely have Ringo on my bucket list. He always comes to the Greek Theatre when he plays LA, and I’ll probably have to buy a nosebleed seat, but it’ll be worth it.

Yep, really regretting it now!  paul-mccartney

Thanks for that feedback. That’s the feel I had got about his concerts but as you all point out, HE’S A BEATLE!!!! and that alone makes it worthwhile.

setlist.fm is new to me – never stop learning on this forum!

Even if he would ever come to Holland again, I’d probably have no one to go with.

That setlist looks great btw, except for the songs I don’t know.

Just curious…has Ringo done any “non-Ringo Beatles songs” in his set list in the past, or does he only do his stuff? I wondered if, for example, he’d do I Want To Hold Your Hand or anything by the whole group? If not, why? (He has the All Starr band to play with him and back him up). Or does he just not want to re-visit the old Beatles days?

I seem to remember there was a Beatles number he did on the 10th anniversary of John’s death, maybe to be beamed into the Liverpool Memorial Concert, that wasn’t one of his vocals originally.

And there’s this from his 1998 tour:
