I dont think Ringo having one hit single can be described as upstaging George who was top of the charts with both an album and single in early 1971 on both sides of the Atlantic. I think that Ringo owed a lot of his early success to George who wrote, played and produced on many of these tracks. It Don't Come Easy has got George all over it. I don't think Ringo played guitar on Early 1970. Back off Boogaloo has a major contribution from George and he contributed to the writing of three tracks and played on four on the Ringo Album. When George's input ceased Ringo was less successful from 74 onwards.

There is  no doubt that Ringo made major contributions  to Beatle albums and John's Plastic Ono Band albums. However, he was only one of several who played on All Things Must Pass.
