OfflineDid anyone knows if George used an alternative tuning, yoga excercises, demoniac pact or what in Hey bulldog?
The first riff is relatively easy to play:
e|------- ------- ------- -------|----------- ------- ------- --------|
B|------------------------------|------------------------------------|
G|------------------------------|------------------------------------|
D|-----0-----2------3-----4---|--------0-----4------3------2-0-|
A|2---2------2------2---------|2---2------2------2--------------|
E|---- -------------------------|-----------------------------------| ...
but the octaved one is hell on earth for me!
e|------- ------- ------- ------------|------- ------- ------- ----------------|
B|------------------------------- |----------------------------------------|
G|--------7-----9------10----11--|--------7----11------10----9--7-----|
D|9---9-------9------9----------- |9---9------9-------9-----------------|
A|-----------------------------------|----------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------|----------------------------------------|
By the way, John's solo is a tough one too…

The first riff is relatively easy to play:
e|——- ——- ——- ——-|———-- ——- ——- ——--|
B|——————————|————————————|
G|——————————|————————————|
D|—--0—--2——3—--4—|——--0—--4——3——2-0-|
A|2—2——2——2———|2—2——2——2————--|
E|—- ————————-|———————————--| …but the octaved one is hell on earth for me!
e|——- ——- ——- ————|——- ——- ——- —————-|
B|——————————- |—————————————-|
G|——--7—--9——10—-11--|——--7—-11——10—-9--7—--|
D|9—9——-9——9———-- |9—9——9——-9—————--|
A|———————————--|—————————————-|
E|———————————--|—————————————-|
By the way, John's solo is a tough one too…
I don't think the beginning of the solo is in octaves. I think it's in fifths (he is playing F# on the 3rd string 11th fret and B on the 2nd string 12th fret, by hitting these two strings 8 times).
He then hits the one octave lower B (4th string 9th fret) once, and slides down towards the 2nd fret of the 4th string, after which he hits one octave lower B (2nd string, 2nd fret) and slides up.
The rest is history:)
One of the best solos ever, even though it's super simple it may take you ages to play it correctly in real time… Lot of sliding up and down and jumping around the fretboard.

I don't know about Hey Bulldog, but I know one thing, that opening riff in Paperback Writer is pretty challenging
