I have quite a long list from my holidays and stuff
In my Irish camp, I formed a “Beatles fan club” which involved a George fan (me), 2 John fans and a Ringo fan! No love for Paul 
I saw a John t-shirt and a Beatles t-shirt at my Irish camp.
My house’s “official” song was Here Comes The Sun (but in Irish of course)
I translated 10 Beatles/George/Paul songs into Irish during my free time (yay for no-lifes)
Our house had a nickname Tí BHP (The house of Beatles+Harry Potter)
Side track: Somebody on a crappy Irish talent show just announced “this song will remind you of a certain band from Liverpool” GERRY AND THE PACEMAKERS?!? 
Actually it sounds f**k all like the Beatles…..
In Italy:
I heard “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds “, “Michelle ” and “Strawberry Fields Forever ” on the radio.
Saw a Working Class Hero , HELP! and loads of Abbey Road t-shirts
Somebody had spray-pained “Working Class Hero ” on a building about 5 mins from the apartment I was staying in
I found out El Presidente of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins (who looks like Yoda) is a Beatles fan
And yer man who is on the telly keeps on mentioning Lennon/McCartney when talking about budding new Irish songwriters

I didn’t know where to put this, but it sort of fits on this topic. It’s not a personal Beatley moment, but it’s one involving a Beatle (John) and a famous interviewer (Tom Snyder). When John was on the Tom Snyder for a now famous interview in 1975, there was one amusing moment when Tom was couching one of his questions in a kind of rambling preamble where he mentioned how “you Beatles” wore those silly suits and had those silly moptop haircuts — and John at that point interrupted him and said, “You mean like the one you have now?” And Tom, to his credit, burst out laughing.
I remember watching that show live, I was so excited it was on. But I was in college and I had to stay up extremely late, because Tom’s TV show only began to air at about 12:30 or even 1:00 in the morning, and I hated going to sleep late on a school night — but I did anyway for that. That was 1975 — no Internet, no YouTube, not even any VCR technology (let alone DVD) so I could record the show for later! (If there was any budding technology to do that, I certainly wasn’t knowledgeable at the time about it, and most people weren’t). To any readers here born after the 70s, such details must sound pretty much like if I had been born before the automobile, plane and train was invented, back in the time when everyone rode a horse and buggy into town!
I happened to be sleeping in the basement of a sorority during that time, because to help pay my way for college, I took a job as a “houseboy” to a sorority (all girls) and in exchange for working in the kitchen, I got free room and board.

Offline All great memories, FP.
In ’75 I was 11 going on 12 in November, so I too recall the lack of technology. I remember being truly excited over being able to stay up late to watch these things air for the first time. As far as we knew back then, it would be the first and last time you ever got to see it.

I never heard of a “houseboy” for a sorority. (And back in my younger days in college, I might have gone for it… I went to a college with a LOT of pretty Southern girls…)

Yeah, actually I was a live-in houseboy for two different sororities, during my first and second years at college (not including summers — I had to find my own place to stay during the summer). In both of them, there were two live-in houseboys, we had rooms in the basement. Then there were usually two other houseboys who just worked during the day. It was a hoot.

I had a great Beatley Moment yesterday. I was having a hard day and feeling a bit sad. I sat down beside my hubby on the couch and he turned the channel and said “I think this is something you might like” & I asked “what is it?!” It was “Beatles Stories” (2011) by Seth Swirsky. Have you seen it? It was great! A real pick-me-up for me and just what I needed.

Offline I went on a business road trip with my colleague who is from China. The Beatles were not a part of his cultural background. I took along the Beatles “1” cd. He declared that the most popular song of the Beatles that even non-Beatles people would know is “Let It Be “. The only other 2 songs he knew from that cd were “Ticket To Ride ” and “Hey Jude “.

Loved it, best thing I’ve ever done. We worked in schools and went on safari and met lots of brilliant people. You’re right though, it does take a lot of saving up- my trip took me 18 months of fundraising, but it was totally worth it!

Offline One of the courses on campus requires students to read a biography written on a junior high or high school level. I was just helping a student pick out her book, and I convinced her to check out the John Lennon book instead of the Justin Bieber book. Woot! Woot!
